Locale not supported by C library |
|
When executing a command f.e. in rxvt, I have that message.
I suppose the message is issued as well, but not seen, when clicking on ROX
| Code: | sh-3.00# rox
Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library
sh-3.00# |
What is causing this and is there a cure?
My locale is nl_BE

I don't know if there are a cure, but I got that warning only choosing a something.utf8 locale In addition, Rox(puppy 2.xx) can show dir/file names correctly with utf8 locales.
es_PE.utf8 locale:

works!
I copied /usr/lib/locale/de_DE.utf8 from Mandrake, and chose the font bitstream vera sans in my Gtk-themeselector.
After restarting rox1, I have "äöü"! cool
Now I'll set Rox1 again as default in Muppy.
Many thanks

Beem, you can ignore it.
Gdk is a grafics-library used by Gtk.
As it is basically just used to modify picture-data (like scaling images), localization can be ignored.

Maybe here is the answer:
http://marc2.theaimsgroup.com/?l=gnome&m=96490593710375&w=2
"Try
export LC_ALL=C and then startx?
dunno if that works. I dont understand these locales very well in
the 1st place. Cause u could also set the LANG variable, but that
didnt work for me. LC_ALL did work tho for me.
Type 'man setlocale' for an explanation.
jan"
