Hello

So it's not just me then:-)

That output was running on Lupu 5.2.8 though I can run Precise and it's derivatives if need be.

Thanks for continuing support for this -- it's a handy little app to have.

Bye

this app has been incredibly useful.
Is it possible to download from other providers such as the Danish dr.dk ?

Thanks Phil

I've just downloaded and tried your new version on Lupu and it worked fine with no errors reported on the one programme I've tried. In time to get something I wanted and that expires today, as well!!!

Thanks again

get-iplayer 2.85

#67 Post by DC »

Hi All
FYI
I have 2.85 running in Lupu 528

I updated from 2.80(?) inside get-iplayer using the "check for updates"
the about tag still reports version 2.80
but clicking check for updates says version 2.85 is installed.

The main thing is that it works for me :D

Does anybody know if this will work in Fatdog 621?

thanks and a
Happy New Year

Hi 666philb

Thanks for the new 2.8.3 update10. I downloaded the lupu version and installed it in the latest updated lupu 5286. I could not get live tv to work either with mplayer or vlc. I remember live tv stopped working in get_iplayer2.80_4. I was wondering if it should work in this new version or not. I am in the UK. Streaming non-live tv works fine.

Regards,

Ken.

hi keniv

no live streaming still doesn't work properly which is odd as live recording does!
i've been using that as a workaround ... start recording a live stream... then once it's got going for a few seconds just click on the output file to play it .... so you're nearl;y live.

i can't look into properly at the moment as i'm abroad and can't test unfortunatly

Hi 666philb,

Thanks for that information. I'm glad it's not just me. Have tried the work around and it works fine.

Thanks again,

Ken.

I used get_iplayer yesterday to download a BBC4 documentary about how Russia won the space race. However, after selecting
Menu and TV, the following message was presented rather than the usual list of programs:

#index|type|name|pid|available|episode|seriesnum|episodenum|versions|duration|desc|channel|categories|thumbnail|timeadded|guidance|web
1|tv|BBC iPlayer Feeds||Unknown|-|||default,audiodescribed,signed,|Unknown|BBC iPlayer feeds are no longer available. Nitro is the BBC's new programme metadata API. You can find out more about this here: <a href="http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/tv/feeds">BBC iPlayer Feeds</a>|BBC Parliament|HD,Highlights,Popular|http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/images/epi ... mmes/.html|

Does anybody know how to fix this? I am using Wary Puppy 5.5.

Thanks,

Simon

hi wildsi,

yes bbc changed a few things and caused some problems see here https://squarepenguin.co.uk/guides/get_ ... ing-guide/

a quick fix for now is to click 'help' then 'update' ,this should update to 2.90
then edit /usr/bin/getiplayerupdate to

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
rxvt --geometry 42x50+0+0 -e /root/getiplayer/get_iplayer --refresh

Hi 666philb,

I tried the 2 things that you suggested. Unfortunately I still get the same message as before after selecting menu and tv.

Best regards,

Simon

I've installed this on precise puppy and all is well.

however, my symlink gets replaced every time i restart my system. is this the default bahviour?

it means i have to redo the symlink from my HDD every time.

i'm on a frugal HDD install using encrypted personal storage.

cheers.

hi clifford,

no this isn't usual behavior, my symlink stays after reboot.

first off is the drive with the getiplayer folder mounted at boot as it will need to be for the link to work.

or if that's not the case then maybe it's something to do with the encrypted save, in which case maybe a script that deletes the old link and makes a new one in /root/Startup may solve it.

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
sleep 4
rm /root/getiplayer
ln -s /path/to/your/getiplayer/folder /root/getiplayer

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I'm assuming it gets mounted as the system boots from it and it does appear mounted on the desktop although I'm not sure if it's immediate.

I can try the script, thank you.

More info on the drive it's an ssd samsung evo 120. the encryption is the save file itself that I chose on first save.

Cheers.

possibly ..... although once mounted the link should then work and in your case seems not to.

try the script ... you'll have to alter it so it points to your getiplayer folder location and also maybe adjust the sleep interval so the drive is mounted when it runs
