Oh, that hurts Edoc, how could you never have heard of it? And I posted such a nice howto. With pictures! ;)

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=91300

Still, that sounds like an interesting buy. I see it's sold, did you actually buy it?
Sorry, it's a real challenge to keep up with all of the innovations within Puppy and still manage my already fragmented daily activities; Amateur Radio, gardening, work, family, etc ... and lately the holidays.

That specific tablet was sold before I found the listing - but I viewed the "original listing" to gather some detail - then I sent him a message requesting greater detail of the three OS code for Burg.

Meanwhile, persuaded by his example, your info re.. Burg, and the seller's follow-through on posting some additional images on Amazon, I went ahead and bought their used Acer Iconia W500P tablet for $200. + $10. shipping.

Play time in a week or 10 days ...

Curious, if it'll be safe to use my old 1.2 savefile with the new version 1.3...?

Hope you get to feeling better, Geoffrey - take care of yourself, above all!

I'm kidding mate. There's no way anyone could keep up with the amount of information that flows through this place, unless they were full time, and even then?
edoc wrote:I sent him a message requesting greater detail of the three OS code for Burg.
There's no mystery about BURG, in fact, you'll notice it's GRUB spelt backwards :) And it's just that. It's an alternative to Grub, but I don't believe it does anything that GRUB can't. I just went with it for something different after using CatDude's Graphical Grub for years. If you're more comfortable with Grub, feel free to go with that instead.

Nothing serious I hope? Just too much time basking in the Queensland sun? ;) (Yeah, I know, it's been raining all week where I'm at...but rain's a really good thing, there's no way I'm complaining.)

How are y'all booting, please?

Any special boot parameters recommended?

I downloaded the iso and burned it to a dvd, then booted the dvd on my
desktop pc and installed to a 32gb flash drive with the puppy universal
installer (frugal).
Plugged the flash drive into my netbook and booted from it.

Just did a Frugal install to my Netbook & it looks great!

Question: Is it correct that there is no default browser?

Can't connect to wlan rt2800usb

#1573 Post by stuvxz »

I have looked for solutions in the forum but apparently none is working.

I can't connect to the web with Carolina Linux 1.2;

I have a D-Link wlan usb drive;

The driver is installed but somehow neither frisbee nor Dougal's Network manager nor SNS can connect, the wlan is down;

The same happens with Racy5.5 and Carolina;

Or any other version of Puppy except LxPup 13.01 Slacko which is too slow with the PC I have; With later versions like LxPup 14 it is impossible to connect as well.

I would appreciate any help since it is hard to do anything without a connection to the internet - I have to come to the public library to send messages or participate in this forum.

Thanks for your help.

Firefox is the default and only browser, when Firefox first runs it starts clean that's why the message to set as default, as it needs to populate the /root/.mozilla directory which contains the profile with add-on extensions.

Explanation:

.mozilla is stripped back to it's bare minimum before Firefox starts.

Cool, so the first time I just need to type "firefox" in Console?

What if I prefer Seamonkey for the close integration w/email without the huge overhead of Thunderbird?

Or do you recommend a small email app that integrates well with Firefox?

I find that Dillo-3.04 and Links 2.8 work better on the 11.6" screen
of this netbook.
I don't know if they are in the repo.
I haven't fiddled with Firefox preferences yet for font sizes.

If you like, I use the menu. are you not seeing Firefox?, I remember you posted once before that the version you had didn't have Firefox, that's not correct as Firefox is in every version, it only isn't if the adrive isn't loaded.

I know very little about Seamonkey as I don't use it, nor do I use e-mail clients, I keep everything online for convenience.
Or do you recommend a small email app that integrates well with Firefox?
No need to integrate, that's all taken care of by Preferred Applications

There is a add-on to adjust the font for Firefox, useful for notebooks

Firefox does not show up in the menu.

There is no "Internet" menu tab - if that is where it's supposed to be - it's not in the "Network" menu tab, which is there.
