So the first Puppy Translators Team is formed. Cool 8)

To me it's a surprise to see that no one has mentioned updating and translating Puppy documentation (online wiki, manuals and websites) as one of the goals. Yeah, actually I'm not good enough for that either --by lack of time, by illness, by laziness, I always write little. And no, I'm not expecting dollars or euros. However, maybe this job could be done better as a team. The main reason why I didn't make an individual web site for the Spanish language support is that there are many Puppy sites already, and ideally all help content should be posted in those ones first.

Hi Victor,

I guess not many like translating doc files, because there's such an overflow of them in and around Puppy, a distro "that...just works" and also because the documentation is often outdated. Not blaming anyone for this, it's the nature of documentation, specially in a fast evolving distro like Puppy.

I have no idea what we as a team could do about this.
It is not really a translator's task to update the documentation.
If you have ideas for a better way of treating documentation, those would be most welcome!

BTW, one of my tasks tonight is counting the members. Shall I add you as a member? I would be very happy to do so 8)

I've been proposing via pm's to move our discussions to a new place.

I was inspired by how the WOOF-CE guys make good use of nabble, a friendly and simple communication tool that works really well.

It's not that we have something to hide from this forum, but to prevent polluting this forum with lengthy technical and organisational discussions.

It could be a temporary communication channel, just to get things going.
I'm still waiting for two replies, but for those reading this: is it a good idea?

The members vote will decide.

Okay, it's decided, the translators team will move to Puppy Translators Team.
(75% of members said yes to this)

A layout question:

Please have a look at thistest forum, which has subforums, and compare it with the Woof-CE forum, which has no subforums.

Both have advantages and disadvantages. I have a light preference for subforums.

What do you guys think?
Thanks

Yeah, you're right. It's not really a task for translators, yet someone has to do it. It's summer holidays here, I'll see if I can start something in English, and others might translate it if they feel it could help. And yes, you can add me as a member. :D

WARNING: OFF-TOPIC :!:

I just see I have written a thousand forum posts.
It took me only 8 years to do so.

Next eight years will be much more of the same.

Yours Sincerely,

The Puppy Translators Team is live!

Some more polishing to do, but we're getting there.

Hey, here's a couple of proverbs for you:
* it's quality that counts, not quantity. :)
* the turtle won the race, not the hare! :)

Anyway, congratulations on your 1,000th post! :)
