tahrpup 6.0 - video issues

I tried tharpup 6.0, the screen turns black after running xorgwizard.
whether i pick 1024x768 or the next higher resolution, and it just hangs there. I have to reboot to get out.

it used to work with precise 5.7.1


my machine details Athlon™ 64X2 - VIA K8M890 + VT8237A - integrated vga on board - 2 gb ram.

i don't know exactly the vga specs. this is what i found on the internet when I search for K8M890 AMD
