In the bottom right gadet next to the sound is a cpu temp indicator. I clicked it to get more info and the temp seemed to jump. What seems to happen is the steady rush of warm air slowed way down and the CPU temp went to ungood levels fairly quickly. I shut down waited a while and restarted. The temp went was out of the red and continued to go down...*And the air was blowing out again.

I don't know if this is my laptop or the temp id program but its a scary thing if its the program. Does anyone else have a T60 that might try the same thing and see if this repeats on another machine? I have access to a second one but I can't lay hands on it for a while.

Otherwise - things working straight out of the box perfectly. And I'm not playing around with the temp gadget and its running at a safe 62 degrees.

Thanks for the new system. Oh! I'm curious about being able to change the Kernel, Is it possible you will go to an even newer version? It kind of solved a lot of issues when I went to raring on my main machine.
I tried to other Thinkpad T60 that I have access to. It seems to stay in a normal temp range so I learned how to pull apart my laptop.and blew out the dust and crud (Ugh what a cloud) I tried a different temp program "peasy" and it worked essentially the same.

this hopefully fixes the keyboard/usb port problems that mavrothal and gyro have been getting to the bottom of, thanks guys it's working for me.
hopefully, finally, maybe..... chromebook touchpad support ...yerc1 to test :)
wacom driver module
various touchscreen drivers

download, extract and copy over installed versions http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pu ... r/kernels/

if anyone is using the nvidia graphics driver on kernel 3.14.20 .... can you confirm that it's still working after applying the update ... thanks

thanks for the updated kernel.
i'm running tahrpup with kernel-3.17.7_PAE_update.
as before, my toshiba chromebook cb30 runs quickly with it.

the situation with the touchpad has not improved though.
synclient still says "Couldn't find synaptics properties..." which means i could not configure the touchpad
did you make the chromebook touchpad support change in the updated kernel-3.17.7 or in 3.14.20?

sorry i had to ask instead of downloading and trying 3.14.20.
where i am data is an issue.

Edit 12 Jan 2015: @666philb I just saw your pm. Will let you know how I go with kernel 3.14.20. Thanks

GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!

Multiple save file/folder selection is working again with my wireless usb keyboard - PHEW!

Still have speckled blue screen of death problems with the nouveau driver with my nvidia hardware but in pup tahr I am able to select the modesetting driver as an alternative and this gives 385 FPS with glxgears:

So what changed? Did Phil do something more than add the hid-logitch-dj driver?

Aren't there enough fixes and changes for a proper 6.1 release?

Quickpet and service-pack fixes are fine but a user may visit the forum when problem appear if at all, and not too late by then...
Why not offer all the so far fixes OOB?

I 've installed Tahr puppy 6.0 PAE.
I have nVidia 6150 SE geforce 430, AMD mobo chipset.
I downloaded from nVidia site the driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-304.88.run, Changed it's rights to exexutable and appeared the message "x server is running" blah blah.
I rerun it and another message came up this time:extraction failed, signal caught, cleaning up.
Also trie from 'Video upagede wizard' the nVidia 340.58PAE.
But the screen has...moved 3cm to the left...and a message shows up that I must restart xserver.
I restart it and the message shows up again.
Which is the correct driver for me?

According to Nvidia, the nVidia 340.58PAE driver package should work for your hardware.

One thing about Xorgwizard. If it sees more than one Nvidia driver installed it gets confused and usually messes up.

Because you did this:
I downloaded from nVidia site the driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-304.88.run, Changed it's rights to exexutable and appeared the message "x server is running" blah blah.
I rerun it and another message came up this time:extraction failed, signal caught, cleaning up.
Remove the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-304.88.run,
Even look in PPM (Puppy Package Manager) and make sure it is not listed as an installed package. If so, remove it there.
Reboot.
Now download and install the nVidia 340.58PAE from Video Upgrade Wizard.
By installing it should make you reboot and run Xorgwizard to choose Nvidia driver.
If not than reboot and run xorgwizard.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Tried swapping in OB Precise (new version not released yet with kernel 3.17.4 PAE), the tahrpup kernel 3.17.7 PAE is working fine on it. Of course, I have an old IBM Pentium 4 with wired connection, so I can't tell about newer, more advanced hardware.

i changed a selection of keyboard and usb port configs from modules to built in. =m to =y.

on my computer usb ports were the problem.

You have noticed that benefactors are running thin, so I would not necessarily wait for them.

Regarding xorgwizard, what is the problem? I do not have any with it.
Actually in my VMs, X does not start on first boot (is fine with physical machines) and I run xorgwizard that fixes it.
Do we have a/some "test case/s" that reliably presents the problem?

Ok, I installed nvidia-glx-304.123-k3.14.20-pae from Video Upgrade Wizard and rebooted and seems to work fine, thanks!
I will try again 340.58PAE since this is the correct one for my case.

the problems with xorgwizard occur when you try changing drivers ... for instance try switching to the unaccelerated driver (requires reboot) and you'll probably end up at a black screen with flashing cursor requiring a hard power off. if not try to switch back to the accelerated.
same when trying to switch between other drivers eg. back to nouveau after uninstalling nvidia blackscreen with flashing cursor.

No, 340.58PAE shows me again the message you see in the attachment (even though I restarted xserver and rebooted).
I 'll re-install nvidia-glx-304.123-k3.14.20-pae, I suppose that's the correct one.

I suspect you have hardware that is only supported by the 304. driver - nvidia drivers are very specific and older hardware is not supported by newer drivers....
