Flash not working on any browser (Solved)

#1 Post by kjacobs »

Something new has started happening in the past week or so. I am now getting flash errors on both my browsers.....Firefox and Google Chrome. I have tried removing flash and reinstalling the latest version. Have also tried adding flash add-ons to FF with no luck.

FF gives me the error that it has prevented an outdated flash plugin from running. Chrome just crashes flash completely. I get this message even on this website.

On my other linux system....a simple apt-get upgrade fixes the error. Any thoughts or fixes for Lxpup????

Hard to say without knowing which version of Flash, FireFox and Chrome you're using....

This suggests an outdated browser. Aside from the pup you're running, it's OK'd "per site" in the address bar.
FF gives me the error that it has prevented an outdated flash plugin from running.

I also noticed this a few days ago.
It is something about a new security issue with flash.
Some browsers issue a warning if you do not have the latest security updated version of Flash.
I think the problem is the Linux version of Flash has not been updated yet.

I got around this by clicking on whatever the Flash content was and selecting the option to let it run anyway or not let it run.

Seems this was a quick response to the security issue.

If you are using Firefox. You can go here to see what it is about:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p796
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Well first....Chrome decided to start playing flash on youtube now, where it would not before, so I guess that is solved.

FF is still failing.....it is version 35.0.1.....and says it is up to date when looking at about firefox.

Flash version is 11.2.202.438

I also noticed I was going to post this in the linux derivatives forum, but it somehow ended up here....LOL. Oh well.....

AHA! Flash 440 fixed it and FF is working fine now.....a HUGE thank you. Although it is interesting that the link says this problem is for version .424 and earlier.....and .438 did not work either.

Anyway.....version .440 is working great and avoids me having to allow flash for every stinkin webpage....LOL.

Thanks again........
