LxQt 0.9.0 and Qt 5.x

#21 Post by peebee »

LxQt 0.9.0 is announced:
http://sourceforge.net/p/lxde/mailman/message/33373317/
http://lxqt.org/
This release drops all compatibility with Qt 4. It also features heavy
internal cleanups and refactorings. Qt 5.3 is now the minimum required
version.

LXQt 0.9 also brings in our first KDE Frameworks dependencies.
KWindowSystem is a true-and-tested library for handling window events.
It replaces our custom XFitMan library and will greatly help in
becoming fully compatible with Wayland. KGuiAddons also replaces a
hard dependency on Xlib in lxqt-panel.
Scabz announcement of Qt5 for TahrPup:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 998#826998

may therefore be signifcant if LxQtPup is to progress any further.....however you will note that Qt 5.3 is required whereas Scabz is offering Qt 5.2.1......

For now - just recording links for possible future reference :wink:

Will probably just wait to see what Porteus comes up with....

Cheers

@ peebee

i compiled Qt 5.2.1 because 666philb asked for that ver and becasue it is the ver in the trusty tahr repos for compatibility.

if you need Qt 5.3 i could compile it when i have time but would only be for tahrpup and its derivatives because of qtchooser and the directory structure needed for it to work.

poweroff bugs : blackscreen (button off by hand)

poweroff bugs : blackscreen (button off by hand)
Remember too that keyboard fr has to be reset each session in terminal (setxkbmap fr is produced by typing setxkb,qp fr)
LXQtPup would deserve a little more cooking, there are imperfections which of depend not on Qt (Google translation from french). Defective Poweroff is redundant with LXDE, in spite of users inform the Puppy LXDE masterchief. Pupjibaro from america del sur tell each user how to do. Better would be modifying the process, isn't it ?
Frenchies did a pet for poweroff but fails with commonwealth productions.
However, go on, you are on the road where i like to drive (QT-apps)
Medor, from France, provides some pets for LXDE here in his french forum

Florence can help you à taper en français, but it's not so easy with virtual keyboards.

Hi Pelo

The keyboard problem is probably due to the way LxQtPup is made by combining the Porteus LXQT module with Puppy....

How are you running LxQtPup? Do you have a frugal install? On hard disk or usb stick?

You do not need to type your command every time - just edit:
/etc/rc.d/rc.local
and add your command there.

I do not understand your "poweroff bug" - can you say what sequence you go through to get this bug? If you poweroff via the Session menu item - also on the panel - then there should be no problem.

Cheers

A new chance is given to LxQT..

#28 Post by Pelo »

I should have read this topic before launching LxQTpup this morning.. I did not remember already tested.
A new chance is given to LxQT..
xwin startlxqt : that is to keep in my memory.
Only two pages of topic to translate , easy. But why LXQT not successful ? That is the question. LXQT is scheduled to replace LXDE soon or late, isn'it ?
First of all, i try to remove this damned transparency, which makes desktop as un infâme gribouillis (translation soon)
I am not a puppy destroyer or maker, only an user searching something new as applications to find in my cup.. of coffee, not tea.
Something as PolarpupQT 005, still at home. Tahrpup missed the train..

A laptop should be mobile

#29 Post by Pelo »

thanks to rcrsn91 pets, my laptop can really surf outdoor, with my wireless antenna, which driver 8192cu for 3.14.94 has been made available in our forum.

A laptop should be mobile, but if you don't have rcrsn51 pets, you shall stay at home, near your adsl provider. In the Summertime (?), to be in your garden is quite a difference, even if you are a Linux developer
I am a reporter, it's essential for me to keep my computer at least in my car.

GCstar, With Qt, included in your Puppy

#32 Post by Pelo »

i would underline that people wanting to go outside with netbooks could do it with LxpupQT, what many newest Puppies cannot do because of kernel, newer of course, but missing a pet in rcrsn51 panel to get a dongle working.
3.14.94 is available here wireless section for nowadays computers
QT5 what to do ? Nothing new. Qt4 is enough to run all QT-apps, excepted makagiga. Symphytum old version as nothing missing compared to Qt5 version. AS 64 bits using 32 bits apps, Qt5 is using Qt4apss.
There are no devs for creating anything new.

LxPupSc-Qt-18.10

#34 Post by peebee »

Experimental

LxPupSc-Qt-18.10M-k64.iso

- Slackware Current 32-bit Woof-CE base
- LXQt desktop in ydrv
- based on Porteus Linux V4.0 LXQt module
- kernel 4.18.13 64-bit

Has lots of duplicate apps and rather over-populated menus due to adding the Porteus module to LxPupSc.

Frugal install recommended - install all of adrv, fdrv, ydrv, zdrv, puppy sfs's + initrd.gz and vmlinuz

ydrv is available separately and can be added to an LxPupSc install.

This ydrv:

ydrv_LxPupSc_19.04.sfs

can be added to an LxPupSc-19.04 frugal install to change the desktop to

LXQt-0.14.1

based on Qt-5.12.3

(component packages come from ArchLinux32)

as a bi-product the Qt sfs can also be added to LxPupSc or ScPup (both 32-bit) if you just want Qt capabilities:

qt5-5.12.3.sfs

This is a LXQt thread .....

Compiz is complicated ... you will need the devx installed to provide python.

Suggest you look how Compiz was started in lxpup14.02_compiz_lxp_setup.pet - it required patches to /root/.xinitrc to start compiz and emerald - and this has to be done before any other window manager starts....

I think Brave only exists in 64-bit version....

Code: Select all

CURRENTWM="`cat /etc/windowmanager`"
#start compiz =================================================================
#check for rendering type
RENDER="$(cat /etc/compiz_render)" #LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1
case "$RENDER" in
Nvidia|Xgl) OPT1="" ; OPT2="" ;;
AIGLX) export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 ; OPT2="--indirect-rendering" ;;
*)echo "Good luck.." ;;
esac
#check intel driver
if [ `grep card0driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf|grep -iE "intel|i810"` ];then export INTEL_BATCH=1
fi
if [[ "$CURRENTWM" != "jwm" && "$CURRENTWM" != "icewm" && "$CURRENTWM" != "openbox" && "$CURRENTWM" != "startfluxbox" ]];then
 if [[ `which compiz` != "" ]];then compiz --replace $OPT2 --sm-disable ccp &
 #sleep 1
 emerald --replace &
 sleep 3
 fi
fi
#end start compiz =============================================================
