I still use Wine 1.1.2 It runs all my favourite windows applications and the sfs is only 13MB big. How big is this and what can it do differently in comparison to the old ones (besides supporting more programs). Simple question, why would I want to use this new version?
Edit:: Oh, see it is 35MB (gawd knows how much when expanded) and was created on 24 May so not really so fresh off the press either.

Hi nic007.
"Why would I want to use this new version?"
- my answer is "Why not?"; surely code is improving: coders become more skillful and take more developments into account! Otherwise we would all still be using windows 3.1 or dos. Nothing wrong with those at all (apart from the 33 odd floppy discs falling on the floor while installing it!), but people like change and a feeling of progress, whether real or not! As Solomon wrote "There is nothing new under the sun. What is has already been and what will be is a chasing after the wind." " God made man straight forward, but man has sought out many inventions." Or words to that effect. Personally I am drawn to the Hamish way of life, or at least shamanistic esoterical asceticism! While we are living we have to DO something, because the abyss which precedes and succeeds life extends unimaginably in all directions and realms. Actually ...
.... there are quite a lot of improvements, but depending on what you install you may never notice it. Refer to WineHQ for details.
My packages are big because I am not yet expert in stripping post compile. Do you know the optimal strip command string to use when compiling for puppy? I am not even sure what a debug symbol looks like!! But I imagine it's quite squiggly! lol
here is 1.7.20.pet

stemsee,
Thanks for this.
Puppy has someone that has been very good at supporting Wine for Puppy.
He has been providing Wine for several years now.
I am sure he could use some help and he could offer some help to you.
His Wine topic is here:

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
