how to test if the linux-system is up to date?

can i test this with console? in the terminal?

this forum is about puppy-linux; which is a different OS. Not sure if anyone will be interested.

1. did you try the built in software package manager?
2. did you try zypper update ? you can try this in console window (or command prompt)
