gimp link to mtpaint??

#1 Post by Jesse »

Ah, right, ok, so yeah.... where to start :)

So I'm trying to associate .tga file extension to be openable with Gimp, if you choose it, and I want to make is so that if gimp is not installed, then the option for opening the tga file with gimp is omitted from the list of applications to start it with... so on my system I have not yet installed gimp, but there is a sym link called /usr/local/bin/gimp that points at mtpaint... how can I tell if gimp is installed or not? I'm looking for a generic way so that I can apply it across any app/file type.

any ideas?

I think the latest versions of Gimp start up with the command 'Gimp2'.

( mine certainly does anyway ). This way the 'Gimp' symlink to mtpaint remains unaffected too.
