Running in Slacko Puppy 55 -- looks nice, I like it ! (I may use this instead of GNOME after all...) Just one problem: most of the icons are showing up as broken images (red 'x' on a dog-eared sheet of paper) which is a bit of an issue.

How can I fix this?

xfce-4.12-slacko.sfs + Slacko 55 + changes to .xinitrc as per this thread.

EDIT: also, background does not work either (plain dark-blue 'wallpaper', Nathan Wallpaper Setter does not work).

You must Change the Icon theme. By default, it uses Hicolor icon theme which is very incomplete.
Download a theme, and extract it in /usr/share/icons/ and switch to it.

Nathan doesn't work since it's designed for Rox. And XFCE uses Thunar.
To change the wallpaper : right click on desktop and, 'desktop settings'. :)

I'm running 5.7.1. Retro 32bit. I downloaded xfce-4.12-slacko.sfs and followed the directions to modify the root/.xinitrc file and tried to reboot and hit F2 at boot up and jotted xwin xfce4-session but nothing happened. Could the hang-up also be because I previously tried loading up https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/929 ... recise.pet but can't get rid of it now since I found the sfs?

Thanks for any hints!

Tried this and couldn't get anything to load up. Is this code supposed to replace code already in the ~/root/.xinitrc file or is this code supposed to replace everything in the ~/root/.xinitrc file??

I run a Jejy's distro with XFCE. XFCE is a pretty desktop. Why do not issue a full distro with XFCE ? And furthermore in several languages, furthermore in a frenchy version ? Saluki is there, but i am a fan of Jejy's Versions.

Change chinese to german in Macis chinese XFCE

Change chinese to german in Macis chinese XFCE
I keep macis in my suitcase. I'll take a look soon how i succeed in changing language. I will advise.
Macis is very nice distro, isn't it ? :)
What i remember, is that i install locales french not in an new repository, but in the chinese one.
Pick up the german apps somewhere (in other distro) and stick them replacing chinese ones.
Installing french language pack result as a melting pot of english, french and some chinese. icons are missing in menus. The fully chinese version has more charm, if you can manage with icons and place of things,

Pups great in many ways, but from time to time its layered file system can exhibit funky behavior.

issue? click Session button in system tray.

Reboot screen open ok.

Click "preferences" button at bottom.

Session screen disappears, and nothing happens.

Fyi.

thx

No issues I'd have trouble recovering from.

Everything okay on your end, or was your post suggesting a continued problem?
