As for my previous post, what file extension are your images and how have you been exporting them for Linux to use?
Oh, I get it now. Simple JPG export images. Do you mean interlace and quality? There are but simple export considerations that I've never paid too much attention. Maybe I'm wrong? Gary

72 dots per inch, anti-aligzing. I think 72 dpi must be the issue.

Will followup later.

Thank you. 72 dpi has to be the problem. My files are too large??? Will try what's on the suggested page.

Windows takes a larger size file and fits to desktop screen is my best guess. Will update this post later.

Yes, I changed the file names so there are no spaces and is showing as expected.

The previous images of a different try did not work so well fuzzy (???).

Will report back and all I can say is thanks.

Yes, the spacing bit I was meaning to point out.

I'm onto why my first attempt at this wallpaper effort did not work. My memory for the issue was not clear but here are the results.

From CorelDRAW8 at 300dpi (export for printing and and resize for different purposes) I resized at 25 percent to fit my screen resolution size. Very interesting results as it turns out the BMP file performs best for my own Puppy Precise wallpaper.

Using old-fashioned CRT monitor but don't think this is an issue in this situation:

Puppy Wallpaper Setter v.1.2 -- Export JPG at 25% reduction -- "Scale to Fit" gives over sized image for the screen to be able to show all of the file. "Centre" cuts off the image on the top and bottom horizontal but center.

It is the BMP export at 25% that does work excluding the original JPG export, JPG at 25% and PNG at 25%.

I'm happy to have the BMP at 25% export working and makes my Puppy a personal operating system.

Thanks for the help all. Could be my PC, graphics card or ??? for the other file formats not showing best. Who really knows?

Happy, happy, happy . . .

Satisfactory's good to hear. About file naming..

As for re-naming, there might be something you can use here.

Pup should have a batch renamer somewhere in your menu.

Background Color

#31 Post by GarySmith »

Here's one more step that someone else might want to try as well.
The graphic looks nice and is centered but I'd like to alter the gray background to a different color. What file can be changed out to get my darker fill left and right of the centered graphic? Gary

Semme, I can live with the manual rename issue but may check out the URLs. Thank you, Gary

I Just figured out how to manually achieve the results of color left and right to centered wallpaper.

Plan to measure the distance left and right of light gray showing compared to a distance in the lion or some other wallpaper feature. Next step will be to add a rectangle of color behind the centered wallpaper and export for the BMP at 25% for resize. Will report back later.

A Desktop I Like Better

Still a little more fuzzy on the central coat of arms than going to see it at heraldry.mysite.com but a wallpaper and background that makes me feel at home in Linux.
