Anybody from India here?

#1 Post by jss83 »

Hi,

Any body from India using 3g on Puppy, I am planning to buy a 3g data card and need advice on which one should I buy. I would like to know which data card is compatible with Puppy and how to use it (tutorial).

I would be buying from flipkart, so if you can point me to the one you are using or have had experience with, kindly let me know.

Thanks

Hi I have used my friend's old Huawei E1550 data card few months back in my Fatdog.
It initially came locked with 'Idea Network', my friend got it unlocked from some local guy.
I used it with Tata Docomo's sim card.

To make it work I just put the sim card in it and plugged it in.
Then opened Fatdog's control panel>Network>Fatdog Dialer.
Selected Sample-3G from drop-down menu.
Clicked edit to see if correct modem port is selected.
I think it should be /dev/ttyUSB0 if not you may need usbmodeswitch package from repo. (This is based on my memory, I may be wrong.)
Then just click save and then connect.
It should get you to the net.

As for which one's to buy, there are many, I don't think any will have problem with puppy.
There are new ones which can give net over usb to PC and wirelessly to your other devices too.
But I haven't used any of them.

Thanks.
