XnViewMP 0.51

Awesome program. Works on Lucid and Slacko for sure... probably others.

I kept launching the program and then found the appropriate lib file it was missing in the Ubuntu Lucid Package Search and placed the extracted results in the programs own lib folder.

There's a couple of PET versions here, although older versions
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/xnview

It is easily to make a PET from SFS-

1 download SFS
2 mount SFS by clicking on it
3 find the /mnt location something like /mnt/+mnt+home+xnview.sfs
4 use the command dir2pet /mnt/+mnt+home+xnview.sfs
5 confirm defaults or modify
6 rename +mnt+home+xnview.sfs.pet to xnview.pet
7 upload here for us to enjoy ; -)

file association may need configuring

The older versions have some serious deficits compared to 0.5x so a newer version was needed. I avoid *.pet because I like to run a lean save file. I even sometimes merge sfs files because of the limitation of 6. I just unsquash them into one directory and then resquash them.

I knew there was a way to convert sfs to pet, but I never need to do that, but I guess if someone was running a full install, that would be necessary. I hope it works for everyone who needs it. Awesome program.

I wonder if there is a program to convert sfs <-> pet , as different people like different packages. pets are useful for adding smaller software and can run scripts, not sure if sfss do that. 8)

Yes, there is somewhere.

Do you know you can modify your initrd to remove this limitation?
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

modify initrd

I did this once before for another reason: I use puppeee on my eeepc 701 and that was built before it was before most puppies let one prevent the base sfs from loading using a grub option and ater I remastered it, my base sfs was approaching a Gig, and my eee has 2 GB ram and it would load automatically, so it would take too long to load. I was able to find a post to modify the initrd to look for the option and not to load the base sfs.

With that being said, I would not remember the process. I know lighthouse 64 has a might higher limitation of sfs files that can be loaded so apparently this is what the maintainer did. Whey then is the limit still so low with other puppies?

There is a story that loops drain your resources... I never experienced any ill effects from using a couple of dozen though.

I made a pet of XnView from bwh1969's.
With help from RSH's little app

Great prog, just missing a few of the extra fx, (swirl, oil painting etc) found in the portable apps version I tried out, and no acquire image function. Also no add text.
But, really easy to use and powerful.

Hope this is of use to folks who can't quite get their head round sfsss'
(like me  )
