Tahrpup, Mintpup, DebDog: wxmaxima does not work

I have tried installing wxmaxima on Tahrpup602, Tahrpup 602 with 603 service pack, Mintpup 25Jul2015, and DebDogJessie 30May2015 but cannot get it to work on any of these.

maxima and xmaxima work fine, but wxmaxima does not: it loads and displays, but the menu items (like new, open, exit etc) do nothing.

Has anyone successfully got wxmaxima to work on any Pup or derivative?

Where are you getting these to install them?

Have you tried to run it, in the console, to see if any errors?

Tahrpup 6.0.3
There is a version in puppy package manager (PPM)
It seems to need some dependencies, also.

You may be missing some other needed dependencies.

Installing from the PPM should get all you need.

Make sure to update the data base in PPM config first.
Makes sure you have the most up to date repository info.

I think it is because tip of the day window is hidden. Move the main wndow and close the tip window. Then the menus are active and I can load, save, exit without problems.
