@Jasper, I hope this is not another one of your attempts to derail a thread or to poison a thread, again. The problem with your response is that you may not have run his utility. And, as such, you may not be aware of how thoughtful it is to give safety; ... almost in a similar way as the "Remaster" utility. As everyone of us knows, missteps can be made by any users and unlike the remaster, this utility is new in providing the simple steps for it use.
So, if you are trying to be helpful, then dispense with any name calling and provide help.
If on the other hand, you have found his utility to not provide clarity OR you, personally, have had problems, please let @01Micko know this on the thread he provides for the reporting of any utility findings, positive or otherwise..
For other members, I have not experienced any problem in using @01Micko's utility. Its new, but can be helpful in various ways including when trying to diagnose certain problems: Or to upgrade/downgrade, if necessary.
Hope this is helpful

6.0.8.1
Downloaded 6.0.8.1 from ibiblio.
On bootup after splashscreen, invalid or corrupt kernel.
Not a good start!
I will wait until mid November for 6.1,
perhaps the dust will have settled by then.
Regards.

Re: 6.0.8.1
What other puppies work for you? No one else has reported this issue so far I think. Sounds like your download is corrupt? Without specs or how you booted it's hard to know what is happening, not sure how 6.1 could fix your issue except by luck.Rodney Byne wrote:Downloaded 6.0.8.1 from ibiblio.

I think it's the box that keeps track of how much data you're usinggcmartin wrote:I have noticed in the newer PUPs we have that there is a service running which is at the top of the system queue for processor; namely netmon_wce. Easily seen via htop utility.
Could someone explain what it is doing in constant use of the processor?
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=100406
For me it's using about 0.5% CPU (same as "retroval -hide", "jwm", "X :0 -br -nolisten", "htop" on average).
netmon_wce is a complete rewrite of the old network_tray with vastly improved efficiency in memory and processor usage and new features added such as wireless icons and wireless signal strength polling.
If anyone has issues with it feel free to report in the linked thread.

I installed Slacko 6.0.8.1 and so far it is working fine.
I installed my right click utility and it is working well except for
a bad right click link to 'Search inside' for pfind

JWM Tray 2 Button add error
I am running a frugal install of Slacko 6.0.8.1 32-bit. I added some additional Buttons to the Tray 2 (Top) using the Edit Tray application. The entry I added for galculator didn't launch the app. On investigation, I noticed the entry created for this button is in spanish. All other buttons have been created correctly and function correctly.
I have manually corrected the entry, which is now working.
Apart from this little glitch, all is working really well. Particularly like having a second JWM panel.

01micko,
Something to consider adding to Slacko.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Not just yet. Maybe for the repo. It will conflict with jwm_config.bigpup wrote:01micko,

I'm testing some time now. It looks good both in fresh install and updates of older versions.01micko wrote:New iso is out.

However given the massive changes in jwm and jwm tools, updating 5.9.x is pretty messy when it comes to UI elements.
Updating from 6.0.x is better but I believe to fully appreciate the new UI and UI tools, a fresh install is better.
For the final/RC2 maybe add a special update script to wipe previous jwm, jwm tools and jwm settings so the new UI can also work after an update.

Hmmm.. what about a script called from delayedrun that pops a message then pops ptheme? (if updating from less than 6.0). I believe giving the user control of the tidy up may make them happier.. or not!
I was also thinking to make a very plain theme for ptheme (standard puppypin, no extra tray) and make it default. but if they have done a lot of customisation it ends up a mess anyway.

The problem is that if you leave the old settings in and then at some point run pdesktop, you get a mess.01micko wrote:Hmmm.. what about a script called from delayedrun that pops a message then pops ptheme? If you want to go that way then you'll need a pdesktop_first_run script that will first pop a warning, and on user aproval will delete all the old stuff and then run.
