Questions about X-Slacko

#1 Post by jeffneedle »

I love XFCE and I love Puppy. This seemed like the perfect solution. Well, some problems.

1. The weather panel applet doesn't work. Looks like it's a very old version.

2. XFCE4-goodies is not available anywhere in the repos. It contains a working weather app, the datetime plugin I so love, etc. Where can I get it?

3. Oddly, chromium-browser is found if I enable all repos, but the version number is VERY old.

I'll use Firefox until this is fixed. Google Chrome, available in the repos, doesn't start.

Can some of these issues be addressed?

Thanks.

X-slacko is probably my most heavily used pup. Don't use a weather app so no help there. I do use chromium regularly, available as an SFS here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 845#867845. I keep the chromium profile and the Firefox profile outside pupspace on an EXT2 partition and symlink to them in /root/.config and /root/.mozilla respectively so all pups can share them. I haven't had any problems at all with that chromium/pepperflash SFS in X-Slacko or X-Tahr.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

Many thanks. The more I work with it, the less I think it's going to work for me. But it's a good effort, and I appreciate the work that went into it.

Best.

I've compiled xfce4-weather-plugin-0.8.6

http://smokey01.com/rg66/X-slacko/pet_p ... -X-slacko/

Requires libsoup which is also there.
X-slacko-5b1 - X-tahr-2.0 - X-precise-2.4

EDIT: Sorry-- bad info. This is for Chromium46. It works on a fresh X-Slacko install-- typing from it now.

I see a version of some of the extras for X-Slacko here. Perhaps they can help?
