Your system has not properly identified your sound card.
Should read your card, ex.
hda (for Intel)
Run the alsa wizard and be sure it uses your card.

Where did the jack-audio-connection-kit package come from and how are you starting it?

I have never really used jack although I did compile it along with qjackctl GUI in Dpup Wheezy some time ago and it did all appear to be working. Not sure if that would run in Precise though.

Got it from the Precise package manager and starting with the ctl. Starting it with other programs hasn't worked either.

The terminal output is showing "undefined symbol" errors so it may be that this Ubuntu package is one that doesn't run in Precise Puppy for some reason.

If you know how to do it you could try compiling the source code in Precise Puppy. that should ensure all the libs are linked and matched as they should be.

My only other suggestion if you want to run something that uses jack is that if you are willing to use Dpup Wheezy instead I have the 2 jack packages that work in http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks

I am no expert on jack but it might help if you could say a bit more about what you are trying to do and what steps you have taken so far including names of packages installed.

What program is it you are trying to run which uses jack?

All I can offer is a Puppy with a working jack.
Get Dpup Wheezy 3.5.2.11 from here:-

Then install the 2 packages
jack-audio-connection-kit
and qjackctl from:-

Then whatever program you are wanting to run but obviously it then needs to be a version of that program which is compatible with Wheezy.

Looks like I may have tested those packages in Precise but I would not have done so extensively.
The "jack control" entry appears in the Multimedia section of the Menu.

I did the Wheezy thing, and installed the jack. It just gives error messages. I was hoping to use the computer as a guitar amp, but...just went and bought an amp. More money, less headache.
