keyboard does not work on boot |
|
hi
On booting puppy 1.0.4 from CD, the keyboard stops work after the following message "Puppy cannot find a suitable partition for your personal data file......press Enter key to run Puppy totally in ramdisk...." At this stage the keyboard that was working prior to the message does not accept any input and seems not to have any power to it (num lock/scroll lock lights do not come on)
I have tried this on a dell optiplex PC and an HP laptop with the same results.
Many thanks for any help!

Is it a USB, or a PS/2, keyboard?

A couple of possible issues.
Do you have a fat32 partition on each system that a pup001 file can be written to?
On the Optiplex, how much ram is in the system? To run totally in ram, Puppy will most likely need 128 mb of ram.
Is there a touchpad on the lappy? If so, it may need to be disabled in the bios. Or, there may be a setting that needs to be enabled for the external PS/2 keyboard to work.
