Ulatency / Ulatencyd - for optimizing the kernel

Optimizing the kernel is possible. You can install ulatency (client) and ulatencyd (server), which is an optimizing daemon, from Ubuntu repositories. I use MintPup, but any ubuntu-based Puppy should have it in PPM.

To have a gui, do : latency --gui
To run daemon in the background, do : ulatencyd --daemonize

Default configuration is fine for most desktop.

As a rule, a system is more responsive after installation of this daemon, but a Puppy-based system with JWM is already responsive. So you may see little to no difference in speed.

If you do heavy stuff, video editing, compiling, etc, the daemon should help you, keeping the kernel optimized through your work.
