Thank you, thank you, thank you. To me this is a great usability improvement, regardless of eye candy.fatdog wrote: A few things in RC2 (and RC) but not mentioned earlier:
b) right-click openbox menu is now sync-ed with panel-menu (RC2 only)

I would recommend updating samba (if not for this release then the next). The reason being is that mono requires: ntls_auth >= 3.0.25
ntls_auth is found in the wind bin package of samba:
https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/ma ... uth.1.html
https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Sa ... #id2653755
A newer version of samba is available for gsplat.

@step - glad that you like it! For other puppy builders, if interested to do the same: the updated source is openbox-xdgmenu-0.4.tar.bz2 in ibiblio's fatdog source, fatdog-ob-menu.sh and the updated set of /etc/xdg/menus.
@s243a - The built-in samba is version 3.0.37. It is meant for easy and simple file sharing, so it only contains a minimal subset of binaries and pre-configured config file to make it work. It doesn't contain the entire suite. If you want to run the full suite, then get samba4 package from the repo (via gslapt). Unlike other puppies, I will *never* put the full samba into the basesfs.

If you have multiple fatdog machines connected to a router or switch does anything like above or any other type of network discovery need to be disabled to stop them seeing or connecting to each other for privacy?jamesbond wrote:One thing that is not immediately clear is that 702rc supports bonjour. Among other thing, it means that all machines in the same subnet can now refer to each other using hostnames instead of IP address. E.g. if your hostname is "xrdp-server" you can now address is as "xrdp-server.local". For this to work, the machines must be in the same subnet, as the name resolution uses non-routable broadcast address. Welcome to NetBIOS
The pTimer/pStopwatch pair is 8 year old and doesn't look too appealing, to put it mildly.
What about replacing them with much more recent pClock?
I modified it slightly to make it compatibile with FD:
- fixed icon in .desktop file
- modified "Set system time zone" menu option (countrywizard -> fatdog-set-timezone.sh) and added "Set per-user time zone" (fatdog-set-timezone.sh user)
- since Fatdog's pschedule does not accept arguments, I added the following info on 'Alarm' tab:
As a Command you can use, for example:
/usr/bin/aplay /usr/share/audio/2barks.au
(^ perhaps a better wording would be in order here)
and removed the filechooser for audio files.
___________
Btw, I just discovered that cron doesn't use my local time, but UTC instead.
My HW clock is set to UTC, my timezone is UTC+1.
Can anybody confirm this?
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature...
EDIT: I just tried dcron and it works as expected, so it seems to be something wrong with busybox's crond.
EDIT2: Oh, I noticed that crond isn't a symlink to busybox, but busybox-cron.
The regular busybox's crond works just fine, too...
EDIT3: It works if I change the default TZ's value from ':/etc/localtime' to:
busybox-cron was cross-compiled using uClibc, right?
Greetings!

@slavvo67 - cannot reproduce the problem.
Suggestion:
1. run fatdog-remaster.sh from terminal and watch for error messages
2. try a "copy" remaster with only fd64.sfs (and no other layer) as the sfs included. See if you can get this one to boot.
@SFR - "The pTimer/pStopwatch pair is 8 year old"
-> Yeah I know I was after functionalities The reason why we didn't upgrade to latest is because Fatdog used to ship with gtkdialog 0.8.3 (aka gtkdialog3), and zigbert tends to be on the bleeding edge and uses the latest gtkdialog (gtkdialog4). Now that we ship with gtkdialog4 this should be fine.
Thanks for the pclock modification. I'll give it a test and then merge.
"busybox-cron was cross-compiled using uClibc, right?"
Yes. I think that's the problem. Try adding this in in /etc/init.d/80-crond before starting crond: and see if crond now behaves.
@Billtoo - thanks for testing.

SFR - thanks for pClock. It's going in.
I'll get rid of prename and ptiming and pstopwatch.
Anyone who wants it can still get it from the repo.
cheers!

just downloaded the latest iso and burned to CD booted ok but no touchpad control at all with the mouse pointer frozen dead centre of the screen - I can use the keyboard and ctrl alt backspace to get to bash...
my machine is an Acer Aspire ES 512 series laptop which I believe uses a Synaptics touchpad
Incidentally I can boot from a usb drive using Knoppix 7.2 with no problems as it recognises the touchpad so I can use the mouse
any workaround for this?

Hello skyblaze
I have just set up a frugal install of 702 on my Acer Aspire 5552,
and the touchpad is working OK here (after using the function keys (Fn + F7) to enable it).
I don't get on with touchpads, so i usually disable it.

Thanks for the Final, everything is working fine.fatdog wrote:Fatdog64 702 Final is released. See first post.
Just a small leftover (PRename) in /etc/control-panel-applets renders a blank icon on 'Utilities' tab.
Greetings!
