Makerware on Tahrpup?

#1 Post by theroar84 »

My school district has more than a few of these old Dell 860's. Only had 1 gig of ram... =( Running puppy Tahr on one and it is sweet.

I had a vision of installing Makerware and using this as the machine we send our creations to our Replicator with...

The steps on the Makerware site have me making changes in terminal, but when I do it fails... I am assuming it is because we use pets, but any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to their install steps.

Thanks tons for your time.

That didn't pan out now did it? Did you get creative and think of another way?

No, it did not... cannot find the /root/.packages...

Still exploring... Any tips?

1. I wonder if EmSee-2nd-Edition | Ultra | 31-1-16 would be the Puppy-style OS to use, since it natively includes apt/apt-get [no need to use sudo in commands methinks, because the user works as root by default].

2. Ask in the EmSee thread if Makerware would install/work on it.

Unless you know how to hunt down deps, Sylvanders suggestion or possibly AnitX will make a better choice.

While I was able to pin down the actual URL, this is NO DOUBT an *apt-get_centric* application.
