Japanese Puppy Linux |
|
Hello,
I want to release a Japanese Puppy. I have two questions.
1. Where can I upload the iso file?
2. Need to set up a forum for Japanese speaking people to join and
discuss about this wonderful distribution.
Thanks,
nyu

If the forum won't need tons of bandwidth (as in over 5 GB per month, which would leave another 5 GB for my own use), I can set one up at a subdomain of my site for it. The address would be something like www.jappup.browserloadofcoolness.com
You could have any subdomain you want, since I don't have any right now.
You'd have to take care of the forum administration yourself, since I don't know Japanese. I'd take care of the actual installation and such, I just can't moderate it. Even if I understood Japanese, I don't have the time.

Hi Pizzasgood,
Wooo......you are nice. I hope the site will be busy in future but I think
5GB will be enough initially. Please help me setup the forum since I
don't know much about it. Thanks,
nyu

Okay. I'll need to know what subdomain you want. jappup was the first off my head, but if you want something specific I can use anything. jappup, pupjap, jap, japanese, nyu, ramen, whatever floats your boat. Shorter is probably better though, because the normal domain name is pretty long already.
Do you have a preference on what type of forum to use? Otherwise I'll just do PhpBB since I already know how to use it. I'm not sure how it handles Japanese though. I'll have to go see what language packs I can find. I guess I'll have to enable Japanese on my system too, to make sure it works.
Once I have those details I can start setting it up.

I would like to put subdomain name as "sakurapup" which is cherry blossom pup.
And phpBB will be fine. I have seen some Japanese and Chinese forums using phpBB so I think it can be used. Thanks,
nyu

Thanks, Lobster. I have attached a screenshot of Japanese puppy. By the way, the current wikka JapaneseLanguage page is not very well translated. I think someone used automatic translation tool to do the job. It needs to be re-written.
Can you tell me how to edit the wikka page?

Okay then. I already downloaded the latest PhpBB (of the 2.x series) and a Japanese language pack, and I have Japanese font support installed on my Puppy. I have to go do some physics homework, then I'll get on it. I'll let you know when I get it all hooked up.
If you're registered to the wiki, you just double-click the page to enter "edit mode".

Okay, it's up. Once you regester, let me know and I'll make you an admin. Then you can edit the settings and create whatever areas you want, with Japanese titles. As far as I'm concerned, you're top dog over there. I just provide the resources and do the techie stuff.

Edit: I won't be able to do it until about 13:00 GMT-5 though. Gotta sleep and go to class first.
