Moksha Desktop a fork of E17 Enlightenment 17

#1 Post by backi »

Hi !

I like that enlightenment 17 Desktop enviroment very much .
I am using Bodhi Linux as a full install .They are using Moksha Desktop
a E17 fork . it`s quite beautiful and lots of tuning is possible.
There is a Moksha deb for download available for Ubuntu .
Here are some links .
http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/enlightenme ... 1404-68169
Of course it does not work in that way out of thebox.
I am using tahrpup 6.0.5 ...

Isn`t out there anybody who feel challenged to make it work ?

Looking for something new in Puppy.
I hope to stimulate some interest in that E17 Moksha thing (low ram...lot of of options for tuning your desktop ...and of course looks incredibly good ..needs just a bit time to become accustomed to it ....but is worth it.......

I am not a (Pupppy) Linux insider . My skills are low .

Now i am using a E17 pet made by Pemasu on my Tahrpup ..6.0.5..
Appreciated his DpupExprimo with E17 very much (a bit outdated...)
Pemasu where are you...? your sophisticated work is missed very much on Puppy .
Also like and use Macpup 5.5 very much ...beautiful....marvellous .

Thanks runtt21!!

But Moksha is a new kid in town .

Hey you nerds and freaks !!

:D Hello,
The build list is very large, and mostly not included in Puppy.
Might try an sfs. Static. will be big.
Have to build elf libraries. grr...
Still looking at what to include to insure compatability.
Johnnie, (runtt21) is the best elf library guy, experienced from building Macpup.
Here is the moment runtt21 discovered E17! :-)

Hi puppyluvr !

Glad to see there is interest in that thing !

Does that mean you are working on it ?
Would be nice to see Moksha working on Puppy.
I am using tahrpup 6.0.5. and Mintpup .
Installed Bodhi Linux with Moksha Desktop on a
a partition of my Hardrive .(beautiful )
Enlightenment 17 (Moksha)is my favorite Desktop Enviroment.

E 20 seems more resource hungry .

Thanks for your reply ! :P

:D Hello,
I may try to build it in Debian, using apt-get then port it to Puppy.
Saves compiling a zillion things.
I may just D/L Bodhi and snatch it from that...
I dont know yet.
I can build it.. I cant maintain it.
Only runtt21 gets ELF that well.....
E17 needs so much. ELF this ELF that...
E16 is simple, easy to build/install, easy to configure via simple text files. I have hundreds of themes, pupoy menu configs etc.
Love me some live graphic pagers!!!!
So yea, E17/18/19/20... aint my thing..
Anymore...

Hey all !
Have found a solution for my need ... :D
And an amazing Distro .
Thanks Debian-Dog Jessie :D

If you are interested in a workable E17 Desktop Module --(Moksha Bodhi Linux fork ) ---or E20 for Debian-Dog (probably Mint-Pup too )....have a look here .

For testing here are .squashfs modules for moksha desktop and e20 enlightenment compiled on DD-jessie:
Moksha:
https://googledrive.com/host/0ByBgCDlZZ ... a.squashfs

E20:
https://googledrive.com/host/0ByBgCDlZZ ... 0.squashfs
Also have a look here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... &start=825

Debian-Dog Jessie ....(and Mint-Pup too )
.... this is the "Philosophers Stone "........." The Holy Grail "......in
combining " The Best of Puppy and mainstream Distros like Debian or Ubuntu... including access to their repos via Synaptic Packet-Manager.

You see...... I am quite enthusiastic !
Have fun !

Puppies from Hungary are a real pleasure

#12 Post by Pelo »

Puppies from Hungary are a real pleasure to take a glance. Mokshapup will allow you to run Moksha desktop, hands in the pocket. But some trouble in this puppy at start, i cannot connect the web, i suppose some drivers are missing. MTpaint froze.
As usual, user cannot run New Puppies without help by a linux expert.. I don't give up easily..
So i write you with Metro Puppy, another magyar puplet, which is perfect and so nice.

repaired by my technicians, wireless now working

#14 Post by Pelo »

repaired by my technicians, wireless now working, even driver for my antenna found. They are magic :)
Nevertheless the poor hungarian users shall compute at home, even is sun is shining outside. MTpaint being replaced soon.
In fact i am not enlightment desktop lover, used in the past with Macpup. But i am surprised that experimental puppy by musher0 Puduan could be a master right now, to serve as base of new hungarian puplet.. On check.. Musher0 hates JWM, i don't know if he would like E17. Perhaps he will try this baby from Hungary.
Please add at least iwlwifi firmware, it's a really popular one.

MTpaint seems refusing to marry with enlightment..

#15 Post by Pelo »

MTpaint seems refusing to marry with enlightment... No time to repair that. It could be a reason of immediate Brexit ! Magyar is difficult but icons help a lot the french user. I really think that a puppy created only with icons would be possible, making it serviceable all around the world ... Perhaps i am the only one to believe in that. But i am a believer.

Pfeco, alias Pfranz said that, Puduan based MtPaint 3.40 inside.

He said it works for him.

my purpose was not MTpaint

#17 Post by Pelo »

MTpaint froze at first use. And you cannot even kill the Window. Even screeny fail to capture anything.. I must admit that i have modified Moksha to be able to have connection to the web. Perhaps the original Moksha has MTpaint serviceable. However i am suspicious about MT paint install. The error speaks about E17 .
I started again in RAM, but first MTpaint freezes again.
My screenshot here above was done by the true Moksha..

But my purpose was not MTpaint. It was to check what devuan can offer, not as decoration, but as applications, applications for fun or movies or pictures, compared to an usual Puppy Linux as a Precise 5.7.1.
The devuan PPM is not so rich... I check deeper. Updating it perhaps will give it some force.

Retrofit to real Mokshapup, i will add iwlwifi firmware (i should say : 'my Linux team will..' )

Just the desktop to look is not enough

#19 Post by Pelo »

i give up. My laptop is useless with no internet connection. Just the desktop to look is not enough. XenialDog will remain my only Dog

Kernel 4.5.5 cannot play Wlan1 because rcrsn 51 has no driver available, so laptops will not be real laptops as soon as you take them away from your house.
No Wlan0, which is LAN for house (30 meters around your ADSL box) because iwlwifi firmware not included.

I had a tablet, Samsung, which was offered me when i retired from working for a boss, I was told that life will be easy when traveling, Lot of information becaming available when needed, where needed. But i became nervous typing with my big fingers on the screen, and making lot of errors. So i decided that a laptop was better and gave the Samsung Tablet to my very young family children...
But I want wireless to work. That is a no-go item :!: Many little Puppies make it, even Puppy Linux 4.1.2 got it with kernel 2.25.16 ... or similar
Many Puppies and xxxdogs don't have kernels to go outside ( at least in my car when it's raining) with a computer. They will all be excluded from my puppies panel :!:
Would you buy a smartphone if you had to come back at home to pay a call ? My laptop must be as mobile as a smartphone (Lumia 528), with a keyboard, and web reachable... and a cover for when it's raining.
NO-GO : plane cannot take off. So you are, from sixty years old until death, chained to you ethernet Cable. :?

Puduan was build by Musher0 isn'it ?

#20 Post by Pelo »

Puduan was build by Musher0 isn'it ? There is a Moksa version available in hungarian forum, dowloaded and tested. Refused after casting. That is life. Puppies are so many. Passenger can choose, Sometimes, even often, devs are not sad if their Puppies are not popular. But some are. They need feed back to feel happy.
