There is only a close button at the bottom of the applet.
What's really needed with the close button is a Save
button as a confidence booster.

Regards.
The stuff in Edit -> Preferences needs dconf. The main things (like loop) seem to need --loop added to the command line.

Please install:

and report if that fixes your problem - if it does I'll add it to the build.

Further to Gnome MPlayer

#284 Post by Rodney Byne »

To peebee,

sorry for the delay in replying ref MPlayer & dconf.

In the meantime I have just installed 16.06.1 to usb
and again ran MPlayer preferences.

No, as before with 16.05.2, they didn't stick, so I
installed dconf at your suggestion and wow they all
stick. So thank you very much, that did the trick.
I wish I was so knowledgeable, but learning code
at 71 is way over my head.

As you said earlier, you can add dconf to the build.

My very best regards.

Icon bar at the top

#285 Post by Rodney Byne »

Hi,

can I get rid of the top icon bar altogether please,
as I find it conflicts with the top blue bar of the browser
and to me therefore somewhat distracting.

In any case, their actions are available from the Menu list.

Thanks.

Right click on that panel. You should see an option to remove it completely. You can also configure the panels from Menu>Desktop>Change Appearance>Panel. Also rightclicking on the panel in the Panel Preferences>advanced settings tab you can set the number of pixels when minimized. Once I have the pup fully set up I usually delete the top panel but like to have it for setup.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

Manual frugal install to a 32gb flash drive:

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Sat 4 Jun 2016 on LxPup-Sc 16.06.1 Linux 4.6.1-lxpup-32-pae i686
0.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430] (rev a1)

X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia
X.Org version: 1.18.3
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (524x292 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GT 430/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL core profile version string: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 361.45.11

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
Core 0: @2003 1: @2003 MHz

The kernel headers pet from the older kernel works on this one too.

EDIT: This manual frugal install started on a pc with intel graphics and I copied
it to a 32gb flash drive, that's why it shows eth1 instead of eth0.
I compiled VLC on the pc with intel graphics and it worked but the video would pause
for a second every few seconds of play.
After moving to the pc with the proprietary Nvidia driver installed and re-compiling VLC it
works fine.
This release is working well so far.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reports everybody....

Kernel headers for 4.6.1 can be found at:
http://smokey01.com/peebee/slackocurrent/kernel/

The top panel used to be an add-on option but became the default from previous comments - I could include a disable / re-enable option ??

Cheers

Just a note. Kernel headers, while essential for compiling many apps, need not be the same as the shipped kernel. I will be using upstreams (in this case and mine; slackware's) from now on. I believe it is more dependant on what kernel headers were used to compile gcc.

Upstream for LxPupSc is:

http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/ ... ackware/d/

and download kernel-headers-***_smp-x86-1.txz

I will remove the ones at smokey01

16.06.2

#294 Post by Marv »

Delta downloaded and applied. md5sum on generated iso correct. Updated manual frugal install on the core 2 duo from 16.0.1 to 16.0.2 with no problems noted. Even though I eventually remove the top panel, having It saves a lot of fingertime when setting up or testing pristine installs and removing it is rightclick simple so I'd say leave it as default.

Latest delta downloaded and applied. md5sum of generated iso correct. Pristine frugal install to core 2 duo laptop, iwlwifi, i915 video. Used SNS for WPA2 connection. LxRightclick and Drives on Desktop options added in. Light browser set up, html bookmarks imported, tabs on bottom, duckduckgo, and Ghostery extensions installed. Profile then moved to external media and symlinked back. glxgears checked, FPS=1550 with Light open... very good. Hostname was changed on first setup with no issues noted there. Bottom panel set up and save2flash option added to menu replacing 'Run'. No breakage to date. I'll use it as the daily now with my ancient Opera as primary browser with mail and Light as the fallback in lieu of chromium, Palemoon, or FF and see how it goes. Light seems a reasonable candidate for now in that elusive 'Minimum acceptable starter browser' category.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Hi Marv - thanks for the feedback as always...

I agree - I'm agreeably impressed by light...I've only discovered 1 (private) webpage so far where it behaved a bit "oddly" in 46 and is now fixed in 47...

Cheers
