Puppy stalls at video wizard

#1 Post by LouG »

Hi. I hope you can help me.

When I boot Puppy from the CD, everything goes all right until it gets to the video configuration wizard. At that point, neither the keyboard or the mouse respond.

I suspect I may have made a mistake when configuring the mouse and the keyboard, altough I'm not sure. I haven't found a way to reconfigure them whenever I boot.

Any idea on what may be the cause? Thanks!

If you think you misconfigured the mouse or keyboard, there is a way out.

You have to delete /etc/mousedevice and that will cue the mouse / keyboard wizards to start again.

This might work:
  • boot Puppy
when it freezes hit ctrl-alt-backspace to kill X
then from the command prompt delete the file (read instructions on the monitor)
Maybe it won't work if your keyboard won't communicate. Then you can delete the recently created pupxxx file and start over.
