Package installer crashes with one click...anywhere

#1 Post by maruchan »

I've installed quite a few things (XFCE, Firefox, OpenOffice, PSI, etc.) and now when I open the "official" PET installer (I think that's what it's called?) there is a problem. It opens like normal, but when I click anywhere on its interface, it closes the program. I'm not sure if it crashes, or what. But it's gone.

Any ideas? This is in 2.13.

Have you looked on the second desktop? Others have had programs disappear only to find they migrated to the second desktop environment. Something to do with the mouse and what you can do if your CTRL (?) key gets stuck or something?

Not sure, but worth a look. Hope that helps.

Hmmm...it stopped doing it all of a sudden.

More specifically, I installed GTK 2.8 for other purposes, and the package manager doesn't disappear anymore?!

Anyway...thanks for the tip about virtual desktops because I did turn them off (the display on the taskbar anyway) and forgot about it.

I experienced that problem for the first time yesterday.

I booted the liveCD using XVesa and it would not work
I booted the liveCD using Xorg and it worked

Go figure...

My Defaults-Wizard also crashes in Puppy 2.13 with Xvesa. Xdialog --fselect seems to break as soon as you click it, saying only "Segment fault". Works fine in Xorg. Strange. :?

Now I've found something that was a big mistery for me. People reporting that the network wizard closed without saving configuration.

I tested under XVesa and I was finally able to recreate the problem!
