well done !
my menu icons have re-appeared when installing cmus. Puppy Linux newbies or passengers for amusement never try to understand why something works or not . Roots are expert enough to repair.
However we are happy when root takes in account our remarks.Merci, Mistfire
PPM Carolina has a newer version of Parole than Jejy69 Xfce 5.3.3.

???? in fact i am running carolina puppet too, beside X-slacko Slim.
Smokey01 is the repository. i will inform you as soon as back to Carolna version grey

Feed back : midori is really a nice browser now, you can trust it, perhaps better than palemoon .. (you Tube easy !)
Pupsave works well with X-slacko Slim, that is not the case of grey 008 (saving last hours, there is a bug in your colleague Puppy Confused
Now, in France, it's time to cook the menu and go downtown to buy cigarettes. Mistfire, i see you this afternoon.
Screenshot here below : users, have a glance at Pupjibaro Wheezy, a debian Puppy. Josep2424 is the root of it, Trust european quality of our Puppies (pub) Smile

Subject description: copied to 32gb flash drive

I copied my jul 18th X-slacko Slim install to a 32gb flash drive, it's now running
on a HP desktop pc.

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Fri 22 Jul 2016 on X-Slacko 4.1 Linux 3.14.56 i686
0.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430] (rev a1)

X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 3200x900 pixels (883x251 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GT 430/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL core profile version string: 4.3.0 NVIDIA 367.35

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3550 CPU @ 3.30GHz
Core 0: @1600 1: @1600 2: @1600 3: @1600 MHz

Both the lenovo and the hp have a nvidia Geforce GT 430 graphics card installed
in them.
I had to adjust the wbar settings and eth0 has become eth1.
Also had to run the network wizard again.

Working fine now.
======================================================
Edit:
I moved my jul18th X-slacko Slim flash drive install once again, this
time to my HP mini stream desktop pc:

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Fri 22 Jul 2016 on X-Slacko 4.1 Linux 3.14.56 i686
2.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)

X Server: Xorg Driver: intel
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (507x285 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2957U @ 1.40GHz
Core 0: @800 1: @800 MHz

It didn't boot to the desktop but after running xorgwizard and choosing
the intel driver it's working well.

I had to run the network wizard again (up to eth2 now)
Also ran the multiple sound card wizard and set the levels.

It's connected to a 27" monitor, plays videos perfectly.
The computer has 2gb ram.

Newest iteration downloaded and up and running on the 2.4GHz 2 Gb RAM core 2 duo i915 iwlwifi laptop. A few pets installed, run, .packages contents inspected, uninstalled ok. Additional repos noted. As in previous iteration, CDs and DVDs play automatically on insertion, DVDs smooth at fullscreen resolution. 4.5.2 kernel then swapped in for the Pentium Ms with no problems. Old 12.16 Opera, Midori, and peebees newest chromium SFS (nspr_nss pet installed) all running well. Midori renders a bit better on some of the sites I use with the Arial font installed IMO so I usually install that and eliminate all else but the DeJaVu... personal pref only. Still nice and, well, Slim. Thanks for TAS. Posting using Midori now.

cheers,

billtoo, your screenshot prooves your X-slacko is yet Fat ! You loose the Label SLIM ! Our Puppy should be as thin as Celine Dion, in the contrary mistfire should rename his Puppy.
New version downloading (568KB/s, nice !)

PostPosted: Sat 23 Jul 2016, 16:11    Post subject: Cd starts Parole 0.4.0 when i push it into the player

Cd starts Parole 0.4.0 when i push it into the player. No titles listed. I Accept it.
(pCD or aqualung will satisfy Music Lovers for that).
What is important is new Packages made available by adding Carolina and Wary 5 repositories. One could make Puppy Xfce as he likes.
Until now libs deleted by Mistfire don't miss anybody, for our cooperative testers here.
I am not a Puppy administrator (root), deleting more libs would be dangerous for me. I hardly guess what description mean. But a Linux expert should do better, i am sure.
Thin Slacko 5.3.3 was without printing stuff. Personally, i have no printer at home ( because paper and ink cost a lot). But if i had a printer, Windows 7 would print my Puppy docs, i think..

I moved my flash drive install of X-slacko Slim to my emachines laptop.
Ran xorgwizard,network wizard,setup sound card.

video-info-glx 1.5.3 Sun 24 Jul 2016 on X-Slacko 4.1 Linux 3.14.56 i686
5.0 VGA compatible controller:
AMD/ATI [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.] RS690M [Radeon Xpress 1200/1250/1270]

X Server: Xorg Driver: radeon
X.Org version: 1.14.3
dimensions: 1280x800 pixels (338x211 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

AMD Athlon(tm) Processor 2650e
Core 0: @800 MHz

Using wireless Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)

Mplayer/Smplayer works great for Youtube and movie DVD's, Vlc doesn't
work well on this laptop.

I edited the eventmanager and turned off auto saving every 30 minutes
because writing to the flash drive takes quite a long while and really
slows running programs.

X-slacko (not so) Slim is working great on this laptop.
