New guise for an old & reliable CD player all Puppyists have

#1 Post by musher0 »

Hello, all.

There's a new kid on the block! :D
He's called cdda-player and he plays CDs better than anyone! ;)
He's been in your Puppy for ages, except today musher0 bought him new rags! :)

All jokes aside, this is a really good CD player that has gone unnoticed for awhile.
I thought the attached "skin" might bring to the forefront a little more.

cdda-player has key control, not mouse control. But frankly, how difficult can it be
to press:
l -- to see the song listing
k -- to see the keyboard commands
a number from 1 to 10 to play corresponding song in the listing. If there are more
than 10 songs on your CD, continue typing on the keyboard row above: F1 will
serve as # 11, all the way to F12 (which starts track # 22).

Notes :
Before you launch cdda-player.desktop,
* you must have your CD/DVD config down pat. Check that /dev/sr0 is linked to
__/dev/cdrom. In the menu, this config tool is listed as the "CD/DVD Wizard";
from terminal, type : cdburner-wizard.

AND

* you must have inserted your CD in the drive... ;)
I know this last point sounds deranged, but it's a serious linux thing, If there is no
CD in your CD drive, linux thinks there is no CD drive. It's very logical, when to
stop to think about it!

Enjoy!

This *.pet archive contains a *.desktop file which calls a bash script in
/root/my-documents/bin. A few decorative elements are added, such as a music CD
icon, and the nice little Proc2 font, which contributes to widening the terminal a bit.

Allô, pelo.

Mode d'emploi :

////
Hello, pelo.

How-to:

Right arrow to hear the next piece.
Left arrow to (re)hear the previous piece.

Or type the number of the piece that you wish to hear.
