Canon MG2560 Printer/Scanner/Copier-Precise 5.7.1

There are a lot for sale right now so I thought just to separate this model from the other threads on here for Canon and just deal specifically with this and specifically for precise 5.7.1 .

The others will be similar so perhaps just a fresh take will help. Remember as this thread ages you may have to change the names of the files you bring down

You have to get the printer drivers and scanner program from Canon. Thats 2 separate things


Start with the main scanner program -2 files


Here it is http://search-au.canon.com.au/canon__au ... =DOWNLOADS
Choose the .deb file and download and save it
click on it, select all and extract

There should be 2 files in the package directory named
scangearmp-mg2500series_2.20-1_i386.deb
scangearmp-common_2.20-1_i386.deb

Click on the 2 "i386deb" files and each will self install

Thats it for the scanner-Chose the new program in the menu called "Canon ScangearMP" and make sure it works.


Now for the Printer -2 files

(or the printer .deb file in the link above)
click on it, select all and extract
There should be 2 files in the package directory named
"cnijfilter-ip2700series_4.00-1_i386.deb"
"cnijfilter-common_4.00-1_i386.deb"

Click on each of the 2 "deb" files for i386 and they will self install

Now you have to add your printer to Cups so go to setup/cups and choose add printer and follow prompts.
