I just tried rampup. It is definitively small, but, not that useful. It is missing several important commands like mkdir, lsmod, modproble, etc. I was not able to mount a hard drive.

It seems to be only usable on a CDROM. It also appears to be missing the USB storage driver. I tried to install it to a USB flash drive and it hangs up. It starts and then stops.

It is a good start, but, needs so more.

I managed to run off a USB stick - used one known to boot and deleted all files but the syslinux, and copied over rampups files. But, yes, I couldn't mount anything, or find any other files I put on the disk (token .txt file for instance).
What do we do next?

I may have a copy somewhere, but see the posts above. Unless you enjoy staring at a prompt, it is not too exciting.

I made a new one from Ivan Davidov's minimal linux build script.

It is just a test build to learn and see how it is going.

First test iso. Mc and links included.
Compiled from scratch totally.

I just forget to set cflags in compiler to reduce size of binaries . Ooops...

it would be interessting to rebuild this way the scope of function offered by baslin and to continue so the tradition that baslin did began years ago (a really good tutor on Linux using baslin as typical study object did exist on the web and was also the best tutor for the linux functionality offered; not included in that tutor was the description of the great extensions possibility of baslin based on very old Slackware)
