I did.
I suspect that I may have stuck in beta5 somewhere, over top of the beta6 package. Starting over... *sigh*
[SOLVED!!] How to install NixNote in X-Tahr 1b3?
PROGRESS!
...of a sort...
I've figured out part of the mystery -- where Ubuntu Trusty has two versions of GStreamer stuff -- gst*-1.0.so.0 being the typical symlink for one, gst*0.10.so.0 serving for the other -- what I have to do is symlink the original lib (invariably of the pattern gst*-0.10.so.0.*.0) to gst*-1.0.so.0 instead of installing the package supplying gst*-1.0.so.0 and its separate lib.
Geez

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!
I knew I could out-stubborn this dang thing if I kept at it... lol...
Needed some Qt4 components and a lib I was getting not-from-PPM, to be gotten from PPM. Once I did that, IT RUNS!
I'm gonna throw together an SFS of this thing, in case anyone wants it, and post it up in Additional Software...
