No packages for wine 1.9.23.
Build fails when trying to compile with puppy431 and racy5.5.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41705
The patch is in a different format than what I used in the past.
I am going to wait for 1.9.24.

Wine 1.9.22 run as SFS

#202 Post by Marv »

I just shut down my last Windows machine. I had a few financial and quilt design programs that were only available under windows so I downloaded your version 1.9.22_v2.1 pet and it does exactly what is needed. Run on X-slacko 4.2 and LxPupSc 16.11.2 so far. I use it seldom so I didn't want to install it permanently so I tried the following and it worked well. Only a small (<2Mb) /root/.wine file remains on the OS it is run on after unloading. I'm sure there are other more elegant ways to do this but this works for my light occasional use. In the preliminary stages of this, I just ran the non-customized SFS and moved the .wine folder from /root to my EXT2 data partition and made a symlink to it in /root. That worked also.

Downloaded the pet, both extracted it to a dir and converted it to a SFS (in my EXT2 workdir).

Loaded that SFS, ran winecfg and added my programs to /root/.wine/drive_c/Program Files. Tested the programs.

Then moved /root/.wine into the extracted pet directory and converted that into an SFS (now has mono, gecko, and my programs on board).

That SFS loads and unloads cleanly in the two pups above, leaves only a small .wine file behind when unloaded, and is perfect for my occasional use.

Thanks for the pet and guidance. This was MUCH smoother than my previous wine tastings.

Edit: Also tested in X-tahr 2.0. Works fine on my progs.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

Any chance of getting the latest stable version with OSMesa support compiled in? I apparently have OSMesa6 10.1.0, if that matters.

I'm trying to get certain programs running that try to use OpenGL, and the error I get is that OSMesa is not compiled in.

If I can find the time, I will try to figure how to compile OSMesa and it's dependencies and have them compiled into a future build of Wine.

Does anyone know if this Mesa file [1] has the development headers for compiling?

Notes for my webpage

The ">" character denotes a link to a mirror for either a directory or file.
ie. Look for the ">" adjacent to a

> file

----------------------------------------------------------------

For general use, I recommend packages that are 'stripped=true'.
For submitting bug reports to WineHQ, I recommend packages that are 'stripped=false'.
When submitting bug reports to WineHQ, it appears a 'stripped=false' Wine provides more information than a 'stripped=true' Wine.

For submitting bug reports to WineHQ, I recommend packages that are 'stripped=false'.
