I'm afraid you renamed it. Because of a bug in the package manager this will create an empty file /root/.packages/lazpaint6.4.1_puppy32.files, which will make uninstalling by ppm impossible.
You must either keep the name as provided by HoerMirAuf or repack it.

LazPaint looks nice, but I struggle with the basics. Can't figure out how to draw a straight line.

Oh ok. I wanted the names to be consistent with each other.

Well I don't know the structure of PET files.

I changed the name to the original, is it ok now?

To draw a straight line, use the polygon tool. Click two points and then Right-click or press Enter.

Note that you are not the first person telling me that. I may consider adding a specific tool for that. I did not want to have to much tools for the clarity of the interface. Any suggestion?

Name looks OK, but now I can't install it at all. The size of the your file, when downloaded, is 9750K. while the file uploaded by HoerMirAuf is 3542K. It seems that yours is an (uncompressed) tarball without the gzip compression required for a pet file.
To draw a straight line, use the polygon tool. Click two points and then Right-click or press Enter.
I tried that too and ended up with a filled polygon. Finally I figured out that I have to turn off "Fill shape".

I did not change the file to my knowledge.

Yes if you click multiple points, you need to deactive fill.

Lazpaint is the default paint tool in TRITON Precise 5.4

#27 Post by Pelo »

I shall try modified versions when i will be easy with the basic usage. Not so easy. Lazpaint is the default paint tool in TRITON Precise 5.4
Mtpaint has been default paint tool in Triton 5.7.3 again, because Lazpaint needs knowledge not acquired by beginners.

What are you trying to say?

Pelo

Lazpaint has to be installed beside MTpaint

#29 Post by Pelo »

Lazpaint has to be installed beside MTpaint, not replacing MTPaint, because they are not the same.
And if adding software in repository is welcome, i want go on step forward, use it. I tried Lazpaint, but i recognized i am lost with it.
Circular, i am talking about Mtpaint because this tool is integrated in Puppy process.
for many of developers here ' a software works well' means 'installs well'. They don't go further.
I am speaking as a photographer, words have not the same meanings.
We are looking for a software which does more than MTpaint, remaining easy to use. Lazpaint is not easy...

Ah ok, so you disagree with the choice made in some distribution to remove mtPaint?

As far as I am concerned, LazPaint is not here to replace mtPaint. People are free to use software they like or are used to.

Pelo

MTpaint and Lazpaint are not fully interchangeable,

#31 Post by Pelo »

yes, that was what i would say.
And the contrary is true too, it's not because you have MTpaint the reason why remove Lazpaint :)
