Downloaded and works fine in tahrpup64. Unfortunately, team kodi has not published any dsp plugins yet, and that was the one thing I was eager to try ... ;)

BTW a very resource friendly (in terms of CPU not overheating) multimedia program. Runs live streams with no hassle (and no thermal breakdown), where browser and html5/flash just don't. On our ancient IBM Thinkpad T60, that is.

Hello, Lassar.

Just d/l'ed and tried this out in Tahr64. Works a treat. Thanks!

I'll be trying this out in Slacko64 6.3.0 shortly (the 14.1-based one, not the new beta version, based on 14.2), so I'll report back and let you know what happens. I may have a go at making an SFS out of it, too. I'll keep ya posted.

Cheers.

SFS temporarily withdrawn, due to 'technical' problems.....

Apologies.

Is there a kodi.pet for 32 bit or does it only work on 64 bit?

SlackOnly has an i486 build.

Dependent upon your situation, perhaps http://openelec.tv/ is a better option.

I tried installing the Kodi 16.1 PET posted by Lassar above on a fresh frugal slacko64 6.3.2. The download and subsequent install went fine and I received confirmation that the install worked.

I proceeded to the menu, found Kodi under Multimedia, but when I clicked on it, nothing happened.

Next, I installed the 32 Bit Compiler SFS with Libraries. I tried starting Kodi, but nothing happened again. As a note: I did not think this was a problem to begin with!

My next brainstorm was about dependencies, so under Setup, I found a way to check a program for missing dependencies and I ran that program on my installed Kodi and got the following list of missing libraries:

libjsoncpp.so.0, libtinyxml2.so.0.0.0, libjsoncpp.so.0, libplatform.so.1.0, libtiff.so.5, libbluetooth.so.3, libtiff.so.5, libwebp.so.5, libwebpmux.so.1, libaudio.so.2, libpulse-simple.so.0, libpulse.so.0, libplatform.so.1.0, liblockdev.so.1, libudev.so.1, libgssapi_krb5.so.2, libgnutls.so.26, libpcre.so.3, libpulse-simple.so.0, libpulse.so.0, libwayland-egl.so.1, libwayland-client.so.0, libwayland-cursor.so.0, libxkbcommon.so.0, libva.so.1, libwebp.so.5, libwayland-client.so.0, libwayland-server.so.0, and libgbm.so.1

Now, I do not know what to do next. Can anyone suggest what the best next step for me to take would be?

Thanks in advance! ~tdcline94

Hi, tdcline94.

I found out exactly the same as you! I installed it in Tahr64; ran perfectly. Tried it in Slacko64, and discovered an enormous list of missing stuff.....

I tried transferring many of the missing libs from Tahr64 to Slacko64, but even that didn't work in the end, as there appear to be certain libs Slacko requires that Tahr64 doesn't employ, so.....I ran into a brick wall.

I think this demonstrates the difference between the 2 distros that these Pups are based on. Tahr64 (Ubuntu) has just about everything you could possibly need available for download from their huge repositories, because they're highly-focussed on attracting new users.

Slacko64 (Slackware) on the other hand, is based on one of the very oldest distros still in existence. In the early days of Linux, you compiled and built everything yourself, from scratch.....it was implicitly understood, and indeed expected. And not being funny, but the Slackware repositories look distinctly empty, compared to the Ubuntu ones!

Unfortunately, the same extends to libraries; if the apps aren't provided, why bother providing the libs? Having said that, however, the classic 'Slacko' 5.7.0 is one of my all-time favourite Pups.....and is my 'go-to' for many things, even today. You certainly can't blame 01micko; he can only work with what he has.....and I get the impression that he's more of a fan of 'minimalism' than Phil Broughton, who's responsible for Tahrpup.....

Mike,

Thank you for your post; it motivated me to try tahrpup.

I now have Kodi successfully running, but I thought I might post my experience for any other newbies to learn from.

First I downloaded and frugal installed a fresh copy of tahrpup64 6.0.5 using a Live CD on a Gateway AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core laptop.

Then, I downloaded and installed Lassar’s Kodi 16.1 PET and received an “install success

I couldn't get it to work unfortunately. Is there an update I'm missing?
