Morning, kiramm.

Hm. Volume problems, eh? Now, then; I'm getting a little confused here; you're jumping around from one Puppy to another so fast, I'm losing track of which one you're working from.

Before we go any further, you really ought to open a new thread for each problem in the 'Beginner's' forum; combining all these questions into one thread makes it hard for people to answer, and rather dilutes the community's attempts to help. You do understand, I hope.....

I'll be quite happy to help out with this one; just post in the correct forum, alright? You'll get more answers there. :)

When you do open a new thread, can you do the following, please?

Tell us

1) What your machine's specifications are;
2) What version of Puppy you're running, and
3) Give us a description of what the problem is.

That way, we can help you better. You have to remember, you're our eyes and ears; we're not there with you, looking over your shoulder.....so the more information you can give us, the more we have to work with.

Keep the Photoshop queries in this thread, by all means; but any other questions, you really will get more answers if you open a separate thread for each topic.

Go to the appropriate forum, and click on the 'New Topic' button at the top; that will open the editor window. Just remember to fill in the 'Title' field at the top, with a short description of the problem.

Okay?

(BTW; copy.com has now closed. You won't find anything there any more, I'm afraid!)

Mike.

Update:- Thanks to one of our forum members, kiramm, we now have a working download link for Adobe's elderly (but still very capable) Photoshop CS2.

You will, however, need to create a free Adobe account first. Just go to

http://www.adobe.com

...click on 'Sign in', top right-hand corner, and create an a/c. Once you've confirmed the a/c is up-and-running via the email link, you can then go to here:-

http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html

Locate the line for 'Creative Suite' (top left of page), and click on the link for 'CS2'. You'll then be presented with a request to sign in; do so. (Forget CS3-6; these don't have a serial number available.....and Adobe no longer sell them in any case. The only reason it's possible to obtain CS2 without purchase is because the activation servers were turned off long ago.....although I'm quite surprised Adobe still have it on their download servers.)

You'll then (eventually) reach the Downloads page. Scroll down to the 'Downloads' section, and click on your preferred language.

Then, scroll down to where you have the entry for 'Photoshop CS2', near the bottom of this section. You'll want the 'Windows' version, not the Mac one. Before clicking on the 'PhSp_CS2_English.exe' (or whatever it happens to be in your language), make a note of the serial no, immediately to the right. You will need this during the set-up process.

Be warned; this is a sizeable download.....around 350MB.

The rest is down to you.

Enjoy!

Mike.

You're very welcome.

Do bear in mind, if you decide to try this out, that the install instructions in post #1 do need to be followed to the letter. It has to be that version of WINE, since that's the only one I've tried this out in.....though for me, at least, it works perfectly.

Also, the Winetricks GUI is a much simpler way to install the 'extras' that Photoshop requires.....so you'll need the extra bits for that to run.

This download comes straight from Adobe's servers; I didn't want to 'share' my own, old, 'paid-for' copy (even though I would have been happy to do so), because the DMCA would have been down on me like a ton of bricks. And John Murga would've copped an earful, too, since he hosts this forum.....and I didn't want that.

As long as you follow the install instructions carefully, you should be fine.

Enjoy! Any problems, drop me a line, and we'll try and get you sorted out.

Hiya, rockedge.

Hey, thanks for that. I'm running the same version of WINE in UpupBB myself, although the original kernel that came with it. I might give this a try; CS2 is a good, steady version, but it is pretty long in the tooth nowadays.

Is the k4.16.9 your own compile? Care to share.....pretty please? (*bats eyelashes*)
