Hello there,

We are a Portuguese Cultural Non-Profit-Organisation and we using OO 3.2 in English over Puppy Linux, but in fact we only need Writer, Calc and Impress.

It will be a big improvement if we could find a distro of Open Office 3.2 in Portuguese, because some of our collaborators don't speak English.

Do you know where can we find a Portuguese OO version for Puppy Linux?

Can we use one of the normal distributions that are shown on www.openoffice.org ?

I thank you in advance.

Yours Truly

@jagp

There is a Portuguese version of Openoffice available at the Openoffice website here:

http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#en-US

Since most of the latest Puppys such as Lupu and Quirky are Debian compatible, the way to install the Portuguese version would be:

Download the Portuguese tarball from the above URL and then use Puppy's Xarchive to expand into a folder.

Install it by opening the DEBS folder.
In a terminal opened in this folder, type:

dpkg -i *.deb

If you get problems with dpkg itself, use say Puppy Lupu and install the Ubuntu version of dpkg just using the normal Puppy Package manager. This will normally require you to create the following two blank files:

/var/lib/dpkg/status and /var/lib/dpkg/available
Life is too short to spend it in front of a computer

hello jagp :)
like tronkel said you can download openoffice from the site and download debian one.

since debian can install it self to puppy, you can click debian file and it will be install it selt. but i think it willl be error on it, because openoffice from www.openoffice.org mustbe unpacking first, because inside the debian is debian file too.

if you want install from www.openoffice.org, here is the step :
1. download debian openoffice
2. dont click on it, but right click, then open with and choose pupzip then extract it.
3. then you can go to folder extracted, and then choose one by one to install by click on it.

if you having trouble to intstall it, pm me, i will be make it for you. i wonder why there is no portugese langguage pack :(

works but how to put Oo in the menu & dictionaries

#25 Post by live »

newbie question.
I've saved Oo3.2 from
http://puppylover.netsons.org/dokupuppy ... te:cutdown
into root
Now double clicking works fine to install it and I manage to open Oo.

Questions:
1/ how do I create a menu :
programs\documents\OpenOffice ?

2/ how to associate ppt extension with Impress?
I also failed to make an "open with" when I go in root and select "openoffice3.2-cutdown-sfs4.sfs" it unmounts it. I do not know how to specify the correct path.

3/ How to add grammar checker, namely BR-English, French, Spanish
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wik ... r_Checking
http://www.languagetool.org/

Thanks.

P.S. Uses Puppy 4.4a

I use Puppy 44 and menu\programs\doc\ has no OpenOffice entry
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppy44

Same, installed but didn't work
So maybe it's a 44 issue?
But I do not want that by default .doc and .xls documents be opened by Oo (too fat) prefer stay Abi&Gnumeric

Ok that's a probably an Oo issue, so I shouldn't post it here, but these are dictionaries, not grammar checkers
Stupid, bu still in Linux discovery
