Anyone using Shotwell Photo Manager?

Paint programs, vector editors, 3d modelers, animation editors, etc.

Anyone using Shotwell Photo Manager?

#1 Post by mow9902 »

http://yorba.org/shotwell/

Can anyone point me to a SFS or PET or TAR file for Shotwell please? It looks like perfect image viewer/organiser for me. I cannot work out how to download something I can use and I don't know how to compile source.

Image

If not - then can anyone point me to something equivalent. I'd be happy with a linux (puppy) version of Xnview. I'm using the windows version on WINE - but want to move completely to Linux.

Thanks

Hello.

I looked at the dependencies required for shotwell, and I don't know if Puppy has all of them.

You may want to download and install gqview 2.15 (see attached example) from

http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... -2.0.4.pet

You can interface it with mtpaint and in this way have a complete environment similar to xnview.

Just a thought.

I have had a look at Shotwell at it looks very good. It has a great search facility and looks reasonably easy to drive.

I tried the version in the Precise Puppy repo that Billtoo recommended. It does have a lot of dependencies, I think 170M in total.

I think Fatdog will be my next main distribution so I am keen to see if Shotwell will work in it.

It is suppose to be able to email photos but it's looking for nautilus. Nautilus is a file manager, I think, not an email client.

Are there any interested parties out there or is there something better or smaller?

xnconvert xnview and many others will do the job

Don't worry if yo don't succeed installing Shotwell we have a lot of Puppy's apps (thin but sweet) in our pocket, at the french forum.
Tell us what you intend to do, we shall give you the right app to use !
View, sort, and edit, but link to Picasa is another deal.
Libexiv2 is missing, even in Ubuntu forum (Fedora too) shotwell does'n start, unless choosing older version.
Shotwell is delivered free of charge by Puppy Lucid 528 though PPM Ubuntu Lucid. Free of charge, but not free of MBs. Shotwell runs well.

If libwekkit can be loaded as SFS, it would be a gound thing, it's the bigger app (14MB)

Hi All,

Shotwell is included in an adrive Geoffrey built for X-Tahr. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 257#937257.

Inspired by Geoffrey, I used PPM and PaDS (and perhaps some searching of Ubuntus repo) to build a pet for Xenialpup64. But that was over a month ago, so i can't tell you how easy or difficult that was, only that the pet is 14 Mbs so probably involved a fair number o debs.

There is a slackbuild for shotwell. There are a lot of dependencies.
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2 ... /shotwell/

If you are challenged by the compile a prebuilt slackware package is here
http://packages.slackonly.com/pub/packa ... /shotwell/

If you use shotwell and don't want to install something,

If you use shotwell and don't want to install something, petihar did it for you with Triton 6.2.
Caution : Petihar touch but it's a Puppy 'pour les français et ceux qui parlent à peu près français'. Les francophiles sont bienvenus aussi, je pense
Either you hardly try to install Shotwell or you use it immediatly, on condition to use a French Puppy.

Actually, here is the linux version. XnView MP is the enhanced version of
XnView Classic. It is a powerful cross-platform media browser, viewer and converter. Compatible with more than 500 formats.
