Subject description: an applet for encfs

If you would like to use an applet for EncFS, instead of setting up EncFS itself, you can install Cryptkeeper. It works with Mintpup, and should work with other dog-based OS.

Once installed, you should reboot. Then go to the system menu, and click on Cryptkeeper, the applet will be available with a menu.

The newly created encrypted folder will be empty at first. You add whatever files you want, and when you uncheck the volume in the applet menu, the encryted volume disappears from the folder list.

Nobody will notice you have an encrypted volume, if you have lost your flash drive or laptop, and your files are password-protected, in case somebody run the Cryptkeeper applet.

You will see a warning about EncFS, when installing it or the Cryptkeepeer applet. It seems that EncFS could be compromised, but for that you need a highly-skilled hacker. For day to day use, it is a good tool.

If you use cryptkeeper, be sure it's the latest version. See here.
