hi spiritwild,

there's been such a gap and so many changes that i won't be using the bugfix option. 7.0.8.2 will be released soon and i'll start utilising the bugfix option in that...... it might even be a quickpet ;)

I had to add intel_pstate=disable to the kernel line of the menu.lst
file to get the CPU Frequency scaling tool to work.

I added @radky's FbBox-4.1 + installed kpat with PPM
Installing kpat didn't break the "passwd root" command.

I don't have time to test more now but will soon.

Thanks.
hi billtoo,

thanks for testing.
i'll be disabling intel_pstate in the next kernel ..... does your computer freeze when you don't disable it?

Xenialpup CE 7.0.8.1
Frugal with save folder on USB flash drive.

menu->Setup->Default Applications Chooser

Nothing happens.

menu->Setup->PuppyApps Default Applications Chooser

That works OK.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

No, it doesn't freeze but the CPU Frequency Scaling Tool won't work until intel_pstate=disable is added to the kernel line of the menu.lst file.

Once that is done I can set it to ondemand,80% etc.

Thanks.

Is there any way to upgrade from previous xenialpup? Or just need to download the iso and install it again.

Install it again. If you have a previous adrv.sfs then it may work simply renaming it depending on what packages are inside.

xenialpup64-7.0.8.1-uefi.iso boots in qemu with UEFI option. A small issue: while the system is early loading, qemu displays a black screen with just this message "system hasn't inizialized video (yet)". Then after about 20 seconds, the normal boot console log starts showing until the system is fully booted to graphics.

hi bigpup,

it's probably missing firmware.
you could try grabbing the firmware.sfs from here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=97276, renaming it to adrv_xenialpup_7.0.8.1.sfs and putting in the same place the main puppy.sfs & zdrv.sfs are.

hi step ,
have a look through /var/log/messages to see what happened during the boot process.

This had no affect.
Xenialpup 7.0.8.1 frugal on usb flash.
Xenialpup64 7.0.8.1 frugal on USB flash.

The screen seems to go black about the time it is switching to using the nouveau driver.

I am posting this from Tahrpup 6.0.6 running on the same computer.
It boots with no problem.
Note:
That added firmware did help on Tahrpup 6.0.6 to get the wifi working on it.
Needed the rtl8821ae driver.

Got Xenialpup64 7.0.8.1 to boot using the Vesa driver.
VIDEO REPORT: xenialpup64, version 7.0.8.1

More testing:
added nouveau.modeset=0 to the boot options.

Xenialpup 7.0.8.1
Xenialpup64 7.0.8.1

Both boot to desktop and seem to be working with the Nouveau driver.
Do not understand why this should be needed.

hi bigpup,

can you try booting with

Code: Select all

nouveau.config=NvGrUseFW=1
and if that fails can you try this http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... .0.8.1.sfs

renaming to adrv.......sfs as before
