Subject description: lightweight music player

http://offog.org/code/potamus/

You need to download the potamus-16.tar.gz and compile by yourself.

But compilation is easy for Dog-based OS.

Start by installing build-essential.

Then install deps :
automake pkg-config \
libglib2.0-dev libgtk2.0-dev libglade2-dev \
libao-dev libsamplerate0-dev libvorbis-dev \
libmad0-dev libaudiofile-dev libmodplug-dev \
libavcodec-dev libavformat-dev libflac-dev \
libjack-dev

You can copy-paste from automake to libjack-dev in terminal.

Then as a final step :
in the folder where you downloaded potamus, open a terminal window and :
./configure
make
make install

Start potamus in terminal with command : potamus. If it is not showing in your Puppy menu, try Debian or MJWM menu. Sometimes, changing menu for Debian or MJWM will make apps appear in proper categories.

Installed without problem in Mintpup, as a lightweight music player with focus on quality sound.

It was slated to replace Xhippo, as Xhippo 4.0, and it is as light as Xhippo 3.5.

As an alternative, MOC, one of multimedia posts of this forum, is very light too, and easy to setup. You can play music files in no time.

roots will compile (some of them), users won't. I shall see with my XenialDog for testing a compilation. But really we are very rich with music players. Only to practice Linux, what is not so fun Sad
One reason i installed XenialDog was that applications were ready for use as GCstars without loading devx and similar headache.
