USB Boot Problems

#1 Post by tlchost »

Created a bootable USB using netbootin. The drive was inserted on a usb3 hub.

When booted xenial did not recognize the drive (sdc1)....when booted directly from the computer port, xenial booted up.

ALLDRVS reports
/dev/sda|drive|ATA ST2000DM001-1ER1
/dev/sdb|usbflash|Multi Flash Reader
/dev/sr0|optical|Optiarc DVD RW AD-7240S

So, it did not even recognize the hub

Any work arounds?

Do you mean the same USB3 port?

Is the USB3 hub detected when you boot Puppy from a different device, like the optical drive?

No...the USB3 Hub is not detected when Xeneial is running from the onboard USB hub...

So it sounds like this is NOT just a boot problem. It's a problem with your USB3 hub not being compatible hardware.

Run "dmesg" and check for error messages.
