Wireless Video Howto doesn't work...

#1 Post by carltonh »

I am relatively new to Linux, and new to Puppy. I downloaded 2.13 to a CD and booted up with it on my laptop with no problem. I was trying to follow the video demo at http://rhinoweb.us/ on connecting with a wireless interface.

However, my Setup menu does not have the option "Connect to internet by wireless interface." Perhaps this was removed by 2.13? Even if I made a mistake somewhere, the video might be changed to address what to do if that is not there in the first place.

I think that video might be a little out of date. Puppy's network connection wizard now includes wireless. Click the "Setup" icon on your desktop, and follow your nose. Are you trying to connect to an encrypted (secure) wireless access point? That will be a little more trouble.

It is my home computer's network, currently WinXP. It is WEP with an encrypted key. We set it up like that because it didn't work with the Nintendo DS with the other setting.

My laptop has an Acer InviLink 802.11b/g wireless LAN.
