In a terminal, open resolv.conf :
geany /etc/resolv.conf
Change DNS IP :
Delete default DNS IP and put in place your chosen DNS IP :
DNS.Watch has both 84.200.69.80 and 84.200.70.40 for IPv4
nameserver 84.200.69.80
save and close.
Your default DNS IP should be ranked second after a logout or a reboot, so your primary DNS IP will be :
nameserver 84.200.69.80 or (Google) 8.8.8.8.
Your system uses your primary DNS IP address, then the second one if the first fails.
If you have no need to change DNS IP, better do nothing, but sometimes a user may prefer using a public DNS provider than the default one, for privacy (no log), security (dnssec), for torrenting copyrighted material, for parental control, adding a security layer.
DNSCrypt would encrypt your dns query, but it is hard to setup for non-advanced users, so changing your dns provider is the easy way to go to have better privacy and/or security.
