How to use RT2870 USB wireless adapter?

I need help to get a Ralink RT2870 usb wireless network adapter working in puppy slacko 5.7.0
It came with a disk and says it has a linux driver but i dont understand the instructions or how to install it. the drivers in network wizard dont seem to work

It could be a firmware issue. Look at /lib/firmware: have you in that dir rt2870.bin? I attach it. Remove the fake .gz.

Later: I have booted my frugal slacko 5.7. In /lib/firmware rt2870.bin is symlink to a kernel module. Try to rename rt2870.bin.old that link and move the attached rt2870.bin in /lib/firmware.

Edit2: I have found a pemasu's suggestion about the right driver to use. Read also:

Thanks for your reply that didn't seem to work. Is there away to install the Linux driver that came with the adapter ?

Please state the product name and model number for your device.

Also run the "lsusb" command and identify the vendor:product ID codes.

Thanks for your help the lsusb gives the following information
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 148f:7601 Ralink Technology, Corp.

the make of the adapter is EDUP its 150Mbps 802.11n USB Wireless Nano Adapter
It came with a disk with a linux driver but not sure how to make that work with puppy.

Your 148f:7601 device uses the mt7601u driver discussed here. You will need a Puppy upgrade to make it work.

The driver on your install CD is garbage.

cant change the kernel as with way as it comes up it doesnt work in full installs also it is a 32bit system so will that driver work as it says 64 in the name?

Your only option is upgrading to Slacko 630 and changing kernels to the 32bit version of k4.1.11, as posted.
it doesnt work in full installs
That's why you should stop using them.

Is there a 32bit version that can do a full install that will work with the adapter?

I have no experience with full installs because there is no good reason for using them now that save folders are possible.
