Hi peebee,

I did a new build earlier this morning and I chose network wizard on
the screen where you can tick on getflash, pburn, etc., it now shows up
on the internel connection setup but still doesn't work.

Seems that I got it half right, on the other hand, SNS is working fine
with my hardware so I'll stick with that for now :)

Thanks.

Thanks 01micko and Billtoo! I tried a new Slacko 6.9.6.7 build and can play music and videos again in gnome/mplayer. :)

Hi Billtoo, I'm curious at what point does Dougal's Network Wizard stop working for you? For me, it seems that everything in the GUI works, though in the end I wasn't able to connect successfully with it (in my last build, didn't try this one yet). I might try using this tutorial later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWBo15s8dME which is how I originally got wifi to work in Puppy420.

Hi Sailor,

As far as I can remember it doesn't see any eth0 or wlan0, nothing.
Frizbee works,SNS works too.

The past few days there is a bigger problem, at the ./3builddistro step it stops with an error when testing chroot so no iso or devx gets built.

Here's a 64-bit cross-build test. I can't test it myself because my CPU is 32-bit lol. Good luck :)b

Hi sszindian, my laptop was idling doing nothing so I built it in the background yesterday just following the instructions on page 1. The only customization I guess I did in it was that I checkmarked everything in the ./3builddistro-Z rootfs-packages, except grub2-uefi and lxde-menus (as I think mavrothal said it conflicts with something if you try to use a different wm but I'm not sure).

I did a build with woof-CE.

I built with an older woof-CE, I think the latest is broken, for me at
least.

It looks like there's quite a few things added to the rationalise branch for 3builddistro-Z recently, I wonder if one of them is what fixed the chroot problem for me? https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... lddistro-Z

@ Sailor Enceladus

Usually I don't fool around with 2nd-party builds but since you went to the trouble to build and upload an .iso I figured I'd give it a shot...

Took 4 tries throughout the day before I got a full download... most would hang at about 75 MB or so.

After a good download and a verified MD check I gave it a spin.

First part seemed to be going good until it tried setting up x-org... no go! But it did give the option to configure x. That I did but when I hit 'done' function it jumped right to the # prompt and there she hung!

Anyway, keep at it I'm sure eventually it will work out for you when you get that new 64-bit computer to play with

@Billtoo: Nice,

@sszindian: Wow, that sounds like a mess. Now that you mention it, my laptop actually fell over and went into suspend when xorg_base_new was compiling, I opened it back up and it resumed so I didn't think much of it, maybe that screwed something up. I tried building another iso today (r5120) and uploaded it to that same link just in case that was the problem. cheers

chroot problems?

Testing is fine for me....just done builds with:
BUILD_FROM_WOOF='testing;9957add;2017-05-10 05:29:18 +1000'

and both built AOK with no chroot problems.

I suspect your build environment if you are having chroot problems....what is your build system and which devx are you using??

Is your build environment any different when doing testing and rationalize builds?

woof-CE needs you

@peebee

Fresh woof-CE installation (testing branch),built on May 12th.

Operating System Slacko Puppy - 6.9.6.7
Kernel Linux 4.1.39 (i686) pae
Memory 8286MB (626MB used)
User Name root (root)
Date/Time Fri 12 May 2017 11:07:06 AM EDT
Uptime 48 minutes
Load Average 0.64, 1.18, 1.14
OpenGL
Vendor X.Org
Renderer Gallium 0.4 on AMD REDWOOD (DRM 2.42.0, LLVM 3.8.0)
Version 3.0 Mesa 11.2.2
Direct Rendering Yes

The network wizard is working again, I selected it along with
pburn, frizbee, and a couple of other things at the start of the
./3builddistro-Z step.

I've given PPM a good workout since my last reboot so the Load Average
is pretty high.

EDIT: The screenshot shows the left monitor.

In which puppy's does woof-ce work in?

#919 Post by Lassar »

Billtoo, what puppy are you running woof-ce in?

Woof-ce does not work in tahrpup64.

Got it to work some in precise puppy.

But it wouldn't make a iso.

All it would do, is to make is a sfs.

What is the best puppy to run woof-ce in?

Lassar,

Also posted this in your other misplaced thread (under Projects). I just ran through the exact standard woof-CE build for Xenial x86_64 using the 4.9.15 kernel, and despite a few errors showing up when looking for packages (of which I did nothing to correct), woof-build kept going and produced a bootable ISO and devx. In fact, I am booting from it right now.

So I am not sure what's wrong on your end, but there isn't any problem per se right now in Xenials, Tahrs, and/or Slackos (I've done all, and Billtoo has done even more). Make sure you are following the simple build steps, and make sure your build partition is "bare", and is at least 8GB or more.

Here are pics of your pkg-spec Xenial build I just did (p.s. not sure why you are wanting to do a "woof-CE" build of Xenail64 when it's version is still on 7.0.7 and Phil has already moved on to & released 7.0.8.4 in the project section):
