Is it me? Arrived here by another route but getting

on many regular topics since yesterday afternoon, BST.
Emailed John in case it's a general issue.

It appears to have been a Forum-wide issue (and globally, too). Curiously, the PM's were still working.....I had several folks PM me, wanting to know what was going on. I PM'd Flash, who in turn emailed John.
I'm guessing it was summat went wrong wi' John's server.....or, more likely, it was a 'glitch' in the phpBB stuff. Whatever it was, it's all working now.
Even servers need the occasional bit of downtime..!

While the forum was down (or rather "inaccessible") yesterday, I was wondering:
--is there some sort of backup for the complete forums? Maybe an Ally on steroids? I know it is pretty mandatory for a forum to run its own forum backups, but many times in an DB malware infection, both the original and the backup will be breached because of how they are set up. With an outside backup going on daily, well, the odds drop considerably of losing things.
I started thinking yesterday what would happen if we lost the thousands of threads and posts over the years, the links, the discussion, the...well, gulp, everything? Could it all be recovered? I've got about 200-250 bookmarks of threads all related to this site. After yesterday, I decided to immediately back them up off-line, on two diff systems, lol.
Thus, I wonder: would it be possible to have some sort of "cloud-based' system that could be independent of murga systems yet does daily backups of all threads? The more you spread, the less you are dead
