Thread(s) Dedicated to PPM, please
Hello all.
Ok. I give up. I searched the forum a lot tonight, and there seems to be
NO thread dedicated to the Puppy Package Manager ???
Is this possible for such a major component of Puppy?
Yesterday night I perused the package-mgr.sh code and I got lost!!!
The problem is this:
-- on the French side, we have had a number of reports about the PPM not
working or ceasing to work after a while
-- as for me, I can confirm that my PPM on my DPupStretch-7_fr has been
kaput for awhile (screen capture attached.)
-- josejp2424 -- who produces the pupjibaros, a Latino Puppy -- has
decided in favor of synaptic and dumped the PPM.
Why?
-- is it because the official Debian Stretch has been released a few days
ago and the former download addresses for the *.deb archive used for
the Stretch tests are no good anymore?
-- OR is it human language related?
--- is some character in the translation upsetting the PPM?
--- would there be something in the script code itself that makes the PPM
allergic to French or Spanish?
-- OR something else entirely?
Anyone who can shed some light on this, please step up?
Or at least direct me towards some paths to possible solutions?
TIA.

I figured out how to add PPA's to the Package manager in tahr 6.0.5
but I can not get it to work in the tahr 6.0.6. This is the PPA http://ppa.launchpad.net/iconnor/zoneminder/ubuntu. Overall the PPM works most of the time...but....it certainly is quirky. I wish there was more info on it as well....I would really like to add this PPA to the DISTRO_COMPAT_REPOS in Tahr 6.0.6

Hello all.
http://01micko.com/wdlkmpx/puppylinux|P ... h-official
from file DISTRO_PET_REPOS in /root/.packages gives me a 404 error...
(Sorry, I can't can't make that URL clickable today.)
Does anybody know what's going on? TIA.

Not sure if this will help or maybe you already did this....

Might not be suitable for what you need.
.
Thanks much, perdido. Really appreciated.
What I don't understand now, is that your URL works and mine doesn't.
BUT THEY'RE THE SAME, aren't they? This is nuts.
Or maybe I'M going nuts. There's a psychiatric hospital about 10 kms
from here. If you don't hear from me for awhile, please enquire at
Hôpital psychiatique Pierre-Janet, Gatineau (QC), Canada, and ask for an
old guy fixated on Linux package managers???
(Little tune from the Twilight Zone playing in my head!...)
BFN.

P.S. Maybe I should give up on the PPM altogether, and try NIX or Zypper
instead.

Seems to be the correct syntax listed in DISTRO_PET_REPOS in my old Precise Puppy..
