USB Sound/Headphone Test

#1 Post by John Doe »

If you would like to test this, feel free. Please report sucess as well as failure.

These two files add to ALSA Sound Wizard and the Volume Tray App support for USB Sound Devices.

Please report any problems. Include Sound Device Type and results of 'amixer' at the shell if the volume control changes don't work for you.

*You must manually copy them

There are two files:

1-alsaconf
2-mini-volume.tcl

*You must manually copy them

Download the tar and extract, then copy both files to /usr/sbin (back up the previous files, just in case). Restart X (because mini-volume.tcl is running already) and then test away.

0-Plug in USB Sound Device
1-Run ALSA Sound Wizard, pick "USB Sound Device", finish wizard.
2-Play something with audio and try out volume control
3-report back here

*note, gxine volume will not work anymore (use the tray).
